USCIS shows 'last updated' recent date, but information is still 2 months old

I logged into the uscis.gov website to check the status of my K1 fiance petition, and to my surprise, it showed a "Last updated 10/1/2009" date. Excited, I checked the case status and it showed "As of July 28, 2009..." and everything was the same as before.

I called the number provided and all the attendant did was recite what I was already seeing on the webpage and I asked her what date they were currently working on for the K-1 visas. She didn't know how, or was not allowed to give me that information.

Did they change something on the website that gave everyone the 10/1/2009 date, or did they do something with my petition?

A change in the "last updated date" (also referred to as a "touch") does not necessarily mean that the status description of your case will also change. The situation you described is totally normal. Don't worry about the current processing dates as reported by USCIS; the timelines on this site historically provide a much better estimate.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

If the date changed it means they did something, that something could be anything. But with your timeline I would say it may be getting looked at and you will probably hear something soon, either an RFE or an approval/denial. There has been alot of activity lately at CSC and VSC, they have been moving pretty quickly so just wait and see for a few.

Good Luck :)

Touches (when last updated date changes) may or may not have any meaning (to you/us) - you are still in line with the predicted timeline (November) so for now just relax.

It's hard to relax now. The petition was approved. :D Vermont is on the ball now, I received a notice on July 28th that they received it and on October 1st, they're mailing me an approved letter.
