We filed in June, received NOA1 on June 22nd, and haven't heard anything yet.

We filed carefully.. and based on lots of info on this site.. I don't expect any difficulties.

While it is certainly within the 5 month timeframe, I see lots of folks in June, before and after my NOA1 date getting their NOA2's.

Probably a silly question.. but can calling before the 5 month timeframe make things worse for us? Can they make things better?

I've hesitated posting, because EVERYONE here is "waiting" and EVERYONE wants their's done NOW.. and rightfully so.. just wondering if I should call or not call.

No.

Can they make things better?

Probably not.

If it makes you feel better to call before the 5 months are up, no reasonable person here will blame you, but don't expect anything to change with your case.

Calling are not calling, they typically don't do anything for you anyway. Just for grins, give this a shot, ask them a few questions on how to fill out the form, they don't know, they'll tell you to turn to "community based organizations" ie. VJ.

Yes, I've called many times to since people who have filed after me have received approvals, they will just tell you to wait.

So, if your looking for personal satisfaction, you can call them. I've done that before just to make myself feel better and make me think that something is going to happen.

However, if your past your "5" month's and they are'nt donig anything I would pull my senator into the mix.

Hopefully you'll receive your approval soon.

Calling won't hurt. It may possibly even help. I called the CSC about my daughter's case about 4 months after the receipt date and asked them if the case was being worked on. I had a reason because my wife's petition had already been approved and sent to NVC and I wanted these to cases to catch up there (which by the way didn't happen anyway). So the guy said the case hadn't been assigned to anyone but a week later it was approved. I don't know if it helped but maybe they're able to flag a case for processing if it's getting close to the end of the 5 month window?

True.

Calling the 1-800 number will not hurt or help. They will choose their answer from a menu of 14. They can look at exactly the same online update as you. In your case they will say your case is pending and to call back in 30 days. I saved you the phone call. :)

Incidentally, my case is still listed as pending and my wife has been here over a year. If I called them today they would tell me the same thing.
