Speaking of Alice. Here you go.....

He did this one last night too.

Thanks for the link.

All the Rock artists are dying off now... What worries me is that there are no groups out there to replace them. Maybe I am just stuck in the 60's, 70's and 80's. In those decades, there was an unbelievable amount of talent out there.

Rolling Stones had a list of top 500 albums of all time and the bulk of them were in the 1960s and 1970s. Now the rock bands are in their 60s and 70s. There's not been nearly as much of that kind of quality put out since then. That's why rap thrives without much real competition.

That is because bands up until the early 90's were chosen based on talent. Bands were chosen based on their music and they would fix up the looks. If you notice, those bands are by and large uglier than the bands today. Now, it's really a marketing campaign. They pick the best looking people based on some formula and worry about the music later. That does not explain why rap thrives...... try again.

WORD.

And comparing The Rolling Stones (which mind, I personally do not like) to any of this itty bitty "bands" of today is laughable.

I was hoping you had the answer as to why rap is still popular.

My theory on that is that most of rap music is ripped off from other sources and most of other music is probably based on marketing at least since video dominated the new talent which hasn't proven too catchy. Little originality all around.
