Anyone know any cheap hotels, checked the ones mentioned on embassy info but they are like 200 bucks. Anyone know of any other ones ????

Rather spend our money on having some fun .

Hi,

We stayed in the Quality Hotel on Ste Annes. It cost ust $87 per night. It is not a fancy hotel but it is clean and the staff were very polite and helpful. It is one block over from the hotel strip and two blocks from St. Laurent which has sidewalk cafes, antique stores and lots of people for watching. It was a four block walk to the embassy that took about 7 minutes.

Here is the info:

Quality Hotel Downtown Montreal

3440 Av Du Parc

Montreal, QC H2X2H5

Canada

For other information contact the hotel: Tel: 1 (514) 849-1413 Fax: 1 (514) 849-6564

Good luck!!

The interview is a breeze!

THanks everyone !!! There must be something going on in town that week b/c the roooms are jacked up. The Quality INN is like 122 bucks a night. Just hate that things are going to be so expensive. I told my husband we should just camp. He says we need a good night rest and a shower before the interview. I'll keep checking for cheaper ones.............. If anyone sees anything please let me know ..........

I don't really know if this wil help or not, but I was once given this address. You can at least play around with it and have a bigger picture of other hotels that may be in the area.

Hopefully that'll help you a little bit. Good luck. My husband and I are also looking for a hotel a couple weeks after you. He wanted to camp too!

I either of you have CAA or AAA you might be able to get a special rate that is less. Just a suggestion . . .

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

If you have any points that can be used for hotels, now's the time to redeem them. There are two Delta hotels near the Embassy that take Aeroplan. Buttons, there are just some things where you have to shell out some bucks and this may be one of them. Especially since you'd want your car to be in a safe garage.

Its summer time, prime tourist season, thus higher room rates. best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We tried La Tour Centre Ville and were told they were booked solid so we had to look elsewhere also. There must be something going on in Montreal the week you are going because we're booked at Days Inn from July 31st through August 2nd and we were charged 129 per night plus taxes of course, with a 10% discount because I have CAA. Good luck, hope you find something reasonable

Just booked La Tour Centre Ville for my husband's interview on September 8th and got the last room available. Still not as cheap as we thought it would be, though... $289 for two nights, including tax. (Thursday night was $146, Friday night was $98, plus taxes... guess there is one advantage to having your interview scheduled on a Friday!)
