Hey all,

I'm getting married on the 25th of October and my Fiancee and I are in the process of buying a condo.

Should we buy it in both of our names or not? After we get married the house becomes community property automatically (texas).

The reason I ask is because we'd like to claim the $8000 tax credit for first time home buyers. Can I be on the title as a co-buyer in this situation or will this influence getting the tax credit?

I think you would fine that question better answered by a Real Astate Agent or the bank loan officer.

Or call FHA they are the long arm of Government housing.

Buying jointly or separately doesn't influence your ability to claim the tax credit. If you were thinking of buying 2 properties this year than you might want to buy each property separately before marriage, file 2009 taxes separately and get married in 2010.
