Cantor was stupid for saying they'd have a plan. There doesn't need to be an alternative plan. The false premise is that there needs to be ANY plan.

Because reforming health care is not needed, in your opinion?

There's nothing wrong with "health care". I think the issue is a government run "Insurance" agency. No? I don't think the bill will change the qualifications of doctors, or change how hospitals are managed. Correct?

Well the term health care refers to our current health care delivery system and reform is centered around making improvements such as making health insurance affordable for all, regulating the insurance industry to eliminate denial of coverage. So the reform is centered on insurance (delivery system) of health care, not on the providers.

Ok, well, as I've said before. If its insurance we're talking about, I don't mind some regulatory legislation put in place to protect the patient. But a "plan" to me means a complete overhaul. I say deal with problem areas such as denial of coverage, and cost. Then perhaps we can compromise as opposed to U-care.

A public option as part of the reform solution is merely an alternative to private insurance. Requiring everyone to be covered would be a windfall to the private insurance industry without some kind of price controls.

I don't think there should be a "public" option.

Public Schools = Failure

Social Security = Failure

Medicare = Failure

The list goes on. You guys bring up the Postal Service but it is not a government run bureaucracy. The only options are, do you send a letter or don't you? Not much room for intrusion into people's lives. Its also self-sufficient (at least for the time being).

By your standard of measurement for failure, I could come up with a laundry lists of private institutions that have failed...none of which would indicate that private industry in of itself is flawed. Some of the very best top notch schools in this country are public. Social Security has been hugely successful and we even have had surplus. Try telling some of your retired relatives living on Social Security and Medicare that they'd be better off without them.

A public option for insurance would have to compete with private insurance....means you can choose a private plan if you think it will be better. It's a win-win situation.
