Is it required to file the I-485 with the I-130?

My husband is here is the U.S. on a tourist visa. We want to send the documentation to the USCIS before his visa expires next month.

We have read the section here on Visa Journey that explains step by step of how to apply when spouse is in the U.S.. There is a list of documents and links that provide a way to download them directly. But there is a list of multiple forms and we are not sure if we need all of them.

We are also wondering if the documentation will be accepted by the USCIS if we send it by registered mail and or express mail?

How many days will it take to get a response/acceptance letter?

Do everything exactly as it says in the guides. Everything you need to know about filing is there. The only forms that you may not need are the ones marked "optional." Everything should be mailed together. You can send it any way you want, but you should send it in such a way that you can track it and get confirmation that it was delivered.

You will usually receive your first notice in the mail around 2 weeks after USCIS receives your stuff.

Were you and your husband married here while he was on the tourist visa? Or were you already married when he came to visit? You may have to show his intent on entry at some point, just so you know this.

Good luck!

If you guys were married before he arrived here he cannot adjust status. You'll have to do a spouse visa.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

Please provide a citation where he is prohibited from trying to adjust status? It is an awful bold statement that has no basis.
