I Got My Green Card Today!!!

Woo Hoo!!!

I got my Permanent 10 Year Green Card today!!!

What a journey its been!

I am so happy that I don't know what to say. I am simply numb and speechless!

I had a painful and difficult journey. I went through so much to leave my abusive spouse, file for VAWA and finally get my first and only GC.

Even though I am mostly a lurker, I enjoy coming here and reading everyone's journey. You have all been a source of joy, hope and encouragement for me.

I love each and every one of you and I am sending warm big hugs your way.

My word of advice to those who unfortunately find themselves having to file for VAWA, don't give up! As painful and difficult as your situation may be, you are not alone. Find a group to share your story with and surround yourself with people who love you. Remember, no matter how long it takes and no matter what you have been through, someone is listening and watching out for you and things will eventually work out for you.

MY TIMELINE

Got married in 200* and my USC husband became very abusive. After * years of marriage, I left him and filed for VAWA.

04/02/2008- Sent VAWA package to Vermont and also filed for my 1-485

04/11/2008 - Establishment of Prima Facie Approval 180 days

05/29/2008 - NOA 1-485 received

07/14/2008 - Recieved my EAD in the mail

07/2009- Biometrics Appointment

08/31/2009- 1-485 Interview Successful

08/31/2009- Received an email from CRIS - Card Production Ordered

09/03/2009 - Received another email from CRIS - Card Production Ordered

09/04/2009- Touched

09/10/2009 - Received an email from CRIS - Approval notice sent

09/14/2009 - 10 year permanent GC arrived in my mail box!!! Thank you God!

7/14/06 - sent I-130

7/18/06 - notice of arrival I-130

8/03/09 - received approval I-130

7/28/09 - sent AOS package

7/29/09 - arrived Chicago lockbox

8/05/09 - touched

8/07/09 - received notice of arrival I-485

8/07/09 - received Biometrics appoitment notice for 9/2/09

8/22/09 - did walk-in biometrics (in/out within 30 minutes)

8/25/09 - touched

10/23/09 - received interview appoitment letter for 11/24/09

11/24/09 - Interview - approved received I-551 stamp

11/25/09 - received email from USCIS - card production ordered

11/28/09 - received welcome letter from USCIS (by mail)

11/30/09 - received email from USCIS - card production ordered

12/02/09 - received email from USCIS - I-1485 approval noticed mailed out

12/03/09 - touched

12/05/09 - received 10 year green card in the mail, Thank you Jesus

Hi Yahya.

It takes about 8 months to 13 months to approve VAWA so don't give up.

If you filed for your 1-485 together with your VAWA, it will take about 13months.

If you filed for your VAWA first, it will take about 8 months.

05-20-2009: called the Military Help Line and requested for expedite

06-04-2009: NOA2

06-14-2009: NVC letter received in the mail

07-02-2009: Packet 4 received

08-27-2009: Interview - Visa approved!

09-03-2009: visa in hands.

09-20-2009: POE - Miami

09-21-2009: we got married!

AOS TIMELINE:

05-12-2010: NOA1

06-08-2010: Case transferred to CSC

06-21-2010: Biometrics
