In this economy they are probably being a bit more choosy now. Foreign films (even ones that are from the UK) are always a bit of a risk and if they think they aren't possibly going to make money off of something, well then they aren't going to distribute it.

Real love stories never have endings...

Exactly. Its kinda silly to suggest that film distribution decisions are a matter of ideology over profit.

The irony of the debate of religious fundamentalism vs. evolution.

If fundamentalists are right, they will inherit the earth because that is what their religion believes.

If evolutionists are right, the fundamentalists will win because they have more children.

So stop debating all. The evolutionists have already lost.

Good points - I've thought of them as well, but....Still not having kids no matter what you say. :P

At least when I have kids I'll make sure they choose based on informed logic instead of ignorance.

Well is it logic? We know squat about the universe or the world yet expect to have God figured out in a lecture. Lets at least start flying to other galaxies .Lets stop looking at those who deliberately prank people and hurt as being funny, before we even start to think about questioning the existence of a superior being. Our generation has some of the biggest douches in history. For all of the knowledge we have, the majority worship entertainers and put these Neanderthals on a pedestal; yet expect to figure out God. Look at the world around us. Intelligence is the last thing that comes to my mind.

We cannot even cure the common cold yet expect to prove or disprove a being that could have planned the entire Universe and existence. Such a being would be so intelligent, would think on levels that out little puny brains simply could not comprehend it; even if we tried. That is what is illogical to me. I cannot see him so he must not be there.

The other mistake people make is confusing the bible and genesis for science theory. Creating the world in seven days was metaphorically speaking.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

There are plenty of people out there (and a few on here) who take Genesis quite literally.

The issue is not that science and religion can co-exist, its that there are fundamentalists who don't want to have their established world-view challenged.

None of this stuff should be controversial, but it is - because a few people would rather believe in magic, rather than reason and the scientific method.

That is because people are not using logic to realize the bible is not about explaining the physical world or its creation. Seven days could really mean 500 million years. Genesis does not discredit evolution as evolution does not and cannot discredit the notion of God. It's the equivalent of using an engineering principle to discredit a psychology theory.

Now, anyone who is a true scientist would know that nothing should ever be ruled out. Just because we do not understand something does not mean it does or does not exists. What do we understand about black holes? It wasn't until magnetic waves were proven that we could show they existed. I am sure people said the concept is bullshit up until the point someone was able to explain them and illustrate them. I'm talking about something as simple as magnetic waves here, rather than a super intelligent force.

Religion and science should not even be an issue. No one religious should try to explain science using it and no one in the science community should use what is know or not to explain religion.

Isn't it illogical when you go on talking about how a theoretical God is so much smarter than anything that we can imagine, but then assume that you know that God didn't create the Earth and life in 6 days? Is God is smart enough to do all of that, why couldn't he do it in 6 days?

Its always been quite simple (in the modern age)-

theology is theology, science is science.

You don't need to be a follower of either to have sufficient logic intact to tell both apart.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Our measurement of time is a matter of the Earth going around the Sun.

That isn't how time is measured on the cosmic scale.

A British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences, according to its producer.

By Anita Singh, Showbusiness Editor

...US distributors have resolutely passed on a film which will prove hugely divisive in a country where, according to a Gallup poll conducted in February, only 39 per cent of Americans believe in the theory of evolution. Movieguide.org, an influential site which reviews films from a Christian perspective, described Darwin as the father of eugenics and denounced him as "a racist, a bigot and an 1800s naturalist whose legacy is mass murder". His "half-baked theory" directly influenced Adolf Hitler and led to "atrocities, crimes against humanity, cloning and genetic engineering", the site stated.

The film has sparked fierce debate on US Christian websites, with a typical comment dismissing evolution as "a silly theory with a serious lack of evidence to support it despite over a century of trying".

Jeremy Thomas, the Oscar-winning producer of Creation, said he was astonished that such attitudes exist 150 years after On The Origin of Species was published.

"That's what we're up against. In 2009. It's amazing," he said.

"The film has no distributor in America. It has got a deal everywhere else in the world but in the US, and it's because of what the film is about. People have been saying this is the best film they've seen all year, yet nobody in the US has picked it up.

"It is unbelievable to us that this is still a really hot potato in America. There's still a great belief that He made the world in six days. It's quite difficult for we in the UK to imagine religion in America. We live in a country which is no longer so religious. But in the US, outside of New York and LA, religion rules.

Arrrrr...there are a zillion movies that go against the christian grain not to mention other religious groups.

Puh-leeeeeaze.

Has anyone seen Religulous (I forget the spelling), Bill Maher's movie?

The U.S. is so young.

It's still a teenager trying to figure out who it is.

So self-centred too....iike nothing exists beyond its borders.

Only time will fix this (to grow up)...that and perhaps a collective awakening.

Ha!

Go Darwin's movie go!
