I repeat:

Many humans need a reason and/or purpose as to why we are here.

If the answer would be something like:

there is no reason

your life has no meaning

etc.

Then well, it would be a hard pill to take, no?

I do not believe in man-made religions.

I do believe in miracles!

Pope Benedict has aired his views on evolution fo the first time - and says he partially believes Darwin's theories.

The Pontiff said science had narrowed the way life's origins are understood and said Christians should take a broader approach to the question.

However, he did not adopt a strictly scientific view of the origins if life, believing instead that God created life through evolution.

He said he "would not depend on faith alone to explain the whole picture".

As well as praising scientific progress, the Pope's views, published in a new book 'Schoepfung unt Evolution' (Creation and Evolution), did not endorse the creationist, or 'intelligent design' view of life's origins.

Even if the Catholic church didn't agree with Evolution.. it's not a matter of 'believing in Evolution', the facts are there, and I agree with the theory, there's mathematical proof, and that doesn't mean I'll ditch my religion..

I only bring up the correction because we have too many people claiming this or that about the Catholic Church... and when these claims are incorrect or incomplete it leads others to form false conclusions.

Now on my other post,

"you say you are Catholic, is there any position the Church teaches on that you agree with?"

No, life is beautiful without a why for me and sometimes the why given is so cliched and hackneyed that alone threatens to take the beauty out of life so that is what I reject. However that's the point, everyone is allowed to take the "what is the meaning of life?" and create what they want from it. There are no 'wrong' answers. That is what spirituality is, in my opinion. Adams was the man ;)

no.. fortunately I was educated under a system with separation of church and state, so no church stance of any kind was ever present in the classrooms..

Amazing how this song hasn't been posted here yet...

Do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart

How the music can free her, whenever it starts

And it's magic, if the music is groovy

It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie

I'll tell you about the magic, and it'll free your soul

But it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock and roll

If you believe in magic don't bother to choose

If it's jug band music or rhythm and blues

Just go and listen it'll start with a smile

It won't wipe off your face no matter how hard you try

Your feet start tapping and you can't seem to find

How you got there, so just blow your mind

If you believe in magic, come along with me

We'll dance until morning 'til there's just you and me

And maybe, if the music is right

I'll meet you tomorrow, sort of late at night

And we'll go dancing, baby, then you'll see

How the magic's in the music and the music's in me

Yeah, do you believe in magic

Yeah, believe in the magic of a young girl's soul

Believe in the magic of rock and roll

Believe in the magic that can set you free

Ohh, talking 'bout magic

Do you believe like I believe Do you believe in magic

Do you believe like I believe Do you believe, believer

Do you believe like I believe Do you believe in magic

[Fade]

LOL

Lets back-up.

You claim you are a Catholic, I ask a simple question, are their any positions the church holds that you also hold?

lol.. ok, what's the purpose of your oh so 'cryptic' questions?

but, I'll answer.. Yea I guess, but I don't believe them because catholic church believes it..Catholic church is against death penalty, so am I, but it's not because the church says so.. they are pro-life, I am pro-choice.. they approve evolution, I agree with evolution..

what's the point?

You don't have to be in lockstep with the Vatican to be in the Catholic Church. Even the cardinals have some fairly diverging opinions on a range of topics.

yeap.. John Paul II was actually more scientific oriented than Ratzinger..

And how many Catholics endorse the Vaticans view on the use of contraception?
