You are welcome. It's nothing to do with you personally - I'm just a bit fed up with the usual VJ OT nonsense I guess. I don't meet anyone like the nutters in real life - at least not knowingly ;)

Timothy McVeigh was known throughout his life as a loner; his only known affiliations were voter registration with the Republican Party when he lived in New York, and a membership in the National Rifle Association while in the military.

Despite the former, McVeigh self-identified as a libertarian in a statement that was reported by MSNBC.com and The Washington Post; and while in federal prison, he voted for Libertarian candidate Harry Browne in the 1996 United States presidential election.

So much for the sanctity of the polling booth!

When did Congress suspend the secret ballot?

Maybe he volunteered the information? Some people enjoy telling others who they vote for, others not so much.

So, little Timmy was a reactionary, an anarchist, and a mass killer, but not a liar? Good to know he still had integrity, even in the end.

Even liars tell the truth when it suits their purpose Mr Bill ;)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

He didn't see himself as an anarchist - he was Libertarian. He believed he was protecting the U.S. Constitution, much like what the tea baggers believe they are doing.

Time to water the tree of liberty? It's only a matter of time before something goes down.

The Oklahoma City bombing, while certainly heinous was nearly 15 years ago. In the time since the only significant problem the US has had with terrorism is with Al Qaeda.

Where is the evidence that this kind of domestic terrorism is any more likely to happen now than it was anytime over the last 10-15 years?

A few grumbling people and some dodgy rhetoric doesn't make it any more likely, imo.

I agree with Pike on that although if one feeds into the rhetoric it does fuel the cycle which is a bad thing and could make it slightly more likely. However, realistically, domestic terrorism is a very hard sell. It's all very well to boast about one's personal arsenal but to actually start shooting at officials or setting bombs where innocent citizens are also present? Not so likely unless you are a little insane. The fact is there is no governmental oppression going on nor is there a challenge by either the president or the members of congress to the constitution. Hysteria is all there is.

Perhaps. Civil unrest happens for a lot of reasons. ELF burns down car lots and spikes trees. ALF kills research scientists. Religious wackos have sex with children and kill abortionists. When you move that far out to the left, or the right, you notice the word is round, as you shake hands with anarchy, on the dark side of humanity.

True, but those fringe groups weren't focused on the violent overthrow of the Federal Government.

You mean like SDS and the Weather Underground?

Helloooo....Anthrax?

As with the case of the old guy who shot up the Holocaust Museum - that was essentially the work of a single, extreme individual, not some concerted effort by an organized group.

Maybe he does...

I can't think of anything more likely to drive you up the wall though, seriously

He's a big boy... besides... sometimes you have to turn up the heat in the oven to make the fruitcake rise. He's not a bad baker.

He can do what he likes and reap whatever that sows. I just wanted to express an opinion in relation to the ? I shall probably withdraw from further debate unless it rises above the puerile - or if it descends into something humorous but I don't anticipate either scenario without AJ

Or Charles. :P

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

So far all we've seen is a guy turning up at a rally wearing a gun as a political symbol.

Its a stretch to go from there - to suggesting parity to a 15 year old domestic terrorism case.

Don't worry. Steven still has lots of duct tape and plastic sheets from the last crisis. He can make it work.
