Subject: VERY IMPORTANT Documents received with Visa

Importance: High

Case Number: MTLXXXXXXXXXX

Name (P): XXXXXXX X XXXXX

When I received my visa 2 weeks ago I was more interested in the passport and the visa to notice that with the documents I requested be returned (original document) there were other documents that maybe should not have been included.

When I opened the mailed envelope (outer) the was inside a brown envelope marked do not open this I expected but there were also many other papers many were originals that over the past few days I have been separating and placing within my package of originals when I found the following (a record of IBIS Query (ROIQ)).

My question is was this an error and if so can I bring everything and have the embassy or the POE officers at the airport in Ottawa sort through what I have and repackage everything or should everything be left as is.

Thank you

I think you should do exactly as the notice/letter/email asks - it doesn't say (correct me if I'm wrong) that you can just let a CBP officer at the airport do this for you.

The first two lines of the post are thiers requesting that everything be sent to Montréal and that is what I will do. the problem is I have no idea what all was in the package they sent. What I did recieve from them was the brown do not open envelope and very many loose originals and photocopies of our documents. The thing that boths me now I will have to send them everything and pray they return to me what they don't need or want.

I'd almost be tempted to just drive there myself and see if I could sort it out in person, so at least they didn't have the power to delay things anymore.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Well - you just described what was in the package - that is what they want returned (the entire thing they sent you, including the loose originals, passport and sealed envelope). I'd return what they're asking for and include a short letter explaining that you would like your originals returned.

You're not dealing with totally inept people, they'll get you what you need to have. Have faith.

I personally would not return the items, in fact receiving originals back with your envelope is not unusual (but as you mention - there is other stuff)

They gave you the visa, they gave you back your originals - they maybe threw some stuff in there they shouldn't have - not your problem.

I wouldn't give them the satisfaction. I'm worried that they will prolong everything buy claiming I did something wrong, thier passing the buck.

I see something like - they receive your email - operator 5 goes over to talk to a CO - the CO says, oh just have him send everything back and we will have to sort through it and see what's up.

No regard for you or your situation at all. That is why I would just cease communication with them at this point.

Hi Ron,

After all that you guys have been through, I'd be really cautious about sending everything back to them. When do you think you're going to be activating the visa? I'd seriously consider what trailmix said. Either ignore them completely, and just send those things back to them after you've activated your K-1 and are in the U.S., ignore then completely right now, or just send them back what you think you shouldn't have. You should have your visa, and your passport, that's the part that I don't know that I'd send back to them...why do they need THAT??

Let us know what your decision is, and what transpires!

Obviously we haven't yet been through enough, as long as I have my tums and Sharon has her meds we will survive. If only I knew they wanted everything back so they didn't look stupid when I showed up at the POE with the package the way they sent I would keep it, but by keeping it there may be problems at the POE or further on down the line.

I was going to activate the visa at the end of November and I'm not changing that date just yet. I will send them what I think is thiers and if anything is missing they can ask for it.

I think that's the best thing Ron. I certainly don't want to see you go through anything else, that's why I thought you shouldn't send your passport with the visa in it back. Who knows if they got it back when they'd send it to you again! Geesh!

Let us know how this transpires. I bet Sharon is so excited about your arrival!!! Are you driving or flying to activate it? Let us also know how the crossing goes!

Best wishes. (F)

Ron, I agree that it sounds like they've made a mistake and maybe forgot to insert those documents into the brown envelope. I wouldn't return any of them..... just give everything to the Officer at the POE. (Make copies first, though. lol) You see, the Consulates don't hang onto anything. Your entire file goes with you to the POE and you turn it over to them. They then send it on to USCIS so you can adjust status. It sounds to me like they just threw everything into the same bag because they couldn't be bothered to open the envelope. You have your visa, you have your file. You're done with Montreal. Kiss them goodbye now.

I haven't yet sent anything to Montréal, the first thing I want to do is go to the airport and see if they will accept everything as is or if they require that it all be seperated and sealed. If they suggest that it be returned to Montréal I will do that. Krikit, I'm sure that the only reason they want it back is that if presented as is they would look bad.

Sharon is studying for her interviews coming up tomorrow and the last thing she would to know is that Montréal is acting up again, she has to much on her mind right now.

Carla, I am flying down, my car is there it is an american car which saves on paperwork and Sharon is driving both of our vehicles. Yes Sharon is quite excited, so is her daughter and grandchildren.

She was offered her own store to manage with Chritopher and Bank but before accepting or refusing thier offer she needs to pass three interviews, one was done last week and another is today and the third could be anytime after todays interview
