hi everyone,i need some information ,I am a permanent resident working as a nurse and been here since sep 2006.i am planning to marry my bf whom i met through e-harmony 5 months ago.he is an egyptian radiologist working under h1 visa,can he apply for change of status to immigrant immediately after we wed?how long will it take for him to get his green card?will he be able to stay and work here while his change of status being applied?does he need to give up his H1 visa?

He will NOT be able to change his status inside the USA immediately after you wed... You must be a USC for that to happen.... As an LPR he is subject to an available visa number (quota) and he will probably have a 4-5 year wait... and will need to go home if his current status expires and wait it out.

He should look to see if he is eligible for filing the I-140 for himself
