yup .. you are so good at generalizations and accusations.

yet you know my life ... everything from the places and countries I've visited ... where I work ... education level .. what I think ... political affiliation ... etc ... etc ... you are omnipotent.

When something looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, sounds like a duck, walks like a duck and smells like a duck, it's safe to assume it's a duck. So when I have someone from Texas who stated they were annoyed at the police investigating their neighbors suicide, I know first hand how little this person has traveled. Go to any other first world country and say the same thing, then come back and tell me what their response to that alone would be. Point being, clearly this person has little actual international experience as they would know that the republican ideology is not the nor in many (if any) other first world countries; Only 2nd and particularly 3rd world countries. Each to their own (jungle rules) is not the norm in the developed world.

noticing reading comprehension isn't your strong point ...

yup ... you know everything ... please continue with your delusion .... this is getting good.

Therefore, why is property more expensive in Manhattan yet cheaper in Harlem? Hint: this also explains the reason why houses are so expensive in Australia. Which, as you pointed out, is an entire country rather than a city. That alone, in itself, says something; does it not?

yet you went strangely quiet in another thread dealing with AUS housing prices ... here

I am not going to waste time discussing something with someone who neither has a clue about it nor cares too. This is America after all, where many clearly confuse opinions for knowledge. I also don't have the same toe the party (ideological) line attitude to everything, which seems to be the norm here too.

After all, it is the same reason those who condone illegal immigration have nothing to go by apart from accusing people of being racist. Or that when it comes to crimes committed by illegal aliens, they excuse it with a everyone does it too; therefore, it must be acceptable. What this shows me is that no matter what ironclad evidence I show them, they will refuse to acknowledge it as fundamentally it would clash with their ideological based stance on the issue.

Personally, I have even proven my self wrong before. Therefore, I will reevaluate my stance and adjust it accordingly. Life is not some sort of team, that is, one you pick and back no matter what.

You have been asked a fundamental basic question regarding property yet you cannot answer it. Instead you prefer to post an article or two about a market you know nothing about and like any republican, claim your stance is correct because you and a random article says so. This is a good example of the Simpson principal hal was talking about.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

you were provided with links and articles in the other thread ... complete with a request to refute or accept the articles. so far the silence is deafening.

Let me guess, you have been to Brazil. Now there is a great example of developed. After all, it's so developed that Marc used it to suggest why UHC is bad.

Deflection? If someone doesn't understand a basic question about a sector, I'm not going to continue discussing a specific issue when I know they have no clue about the topic

I am not interest in basic opinions or mere ideological stances on issues, as I know those types of discussions are pointless.

Anyway, you showed your character and level of intelligence with the incident involving your neighbor's suicide.

that's it? :o

keep guessing. guess you thought you knew everything and realize you don't after all. oh how the might have fallen ...

No need to guess. Prima facie you clearly do not have much international experience. I know your like-minded buds certainly do not.

The mentality of many here is the equivalent of someone driving a F250, or better yet a dodge, trying stating to another person that drives a 750i, that they know quality and style; better yet their truck is an example of quality. People are free to drive whatever they want but don't pretend the truuuck comes anywhere close to a 750i. However, in America I can guarantee you I will find someone who will actually say the F250 is a better vehicle than the 750i.

It's called an analogy of a dominate mentality here. After all, where else are shitty trucks popular in the world?

But anyways, it's laughable to see you talk up your apparent travel but never actually list where you have been, what you did or even do for a living, for that matter. Apart from Gary, I have never heard one of you guys ever actually state what you do.

If you were Canadian or British etc I would believe that you have traveled extensively. But for someone from Texas to say they have traveled, yeah pull another one bud  While it might be a generalization, it's hardly wrong. As I said earlier, 9 out of 10 times I have heard someone say they have traveled, they mean due to the military. The majority of others that have traveled usually mean to some sort of beach in South America or a cruise.

An American such as yourself, as in your demographic, saying they are worldly is the equivalent of myself stating I am a ALCU card carrying, illegal immigration loving but gun toting liberal. I don't think so..

This would be tantamount to; saving money by one means and then throwing that money into another sink-hole.

HInt: there is no connection between gov't spending money on education... and any sizable improvement being the result.

If you want real improvment in children's education, let the people who love the the most get back in charge.

GIVE PARENTS VOUCHERS.

Here is where we disagree, i don't think of investing in Education as a sink-hole. Call me a nostalgic American, but i truly believe the better educated you are, the better you can improve your social situation & future success, give back to the community, pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, etc...

i thought you guys hated vouchers...

No, it's Big Govt libs who don't like Vouchers as it mean people can decide... not the govt.

Now on this "Investment" in education you keep talking about.

Sure we all agree education is a top priority but dumping money into a sink-hole that does not return an education.... is hardly an investment I want my money going into.

Now lets say you really have a goal of education.....wouldn't you Invest your dollars in schools that give a hight yield?

If so, I bet it will not be the public school system you "invest" your money in.

It's pretty bad when "home schoolers" are out preforming the NEA and the billions tax payers have invested with them. (Home schoolers mind you)

Before turning to the excerpts below , I'm still interested how you, Booyah, can be so well-traveled yet so ignorant as to believe America headed for a civil war. Instead of explaining how this will come about, it become the standard attack on Republicans.

You know what the irony is Alien, Repubs live breath and die money. Yet Aussies who are living, sleeping, eating the principles and type of society repubss hate, are severely kicking your azz in wealth.

You have the little man syndrome of constantly trying to impress all of your worthiness or worthiness of Australia. It's bizarre because few Americans have been to Australia so they have no point of direct comparison. The reality is on an international scale of nearly 200 nations the two countries are close in most regards. Check out the 2009 quality of life index.

http://www.il-ireland.com/il/qofl2009/

So when I read utter rubbish about being a foreigner, I first off think no sh-t Einstein but second of all I laugh. In another thread I listed some of things my cousins who is a blue collar worker over there owns, I would like to see some of you even attempt to compete with that. Come on.. You should be able to walk the wealth talk. Since you preach about not giving a ####### about the poor or little guy. Newsflash: you are the poor little guy.

Gave up on the new Civll War theory to play guessing games? I'm really impressed by the rah rah stuff about blue collar workers. Newflash- I did my share of that kind of work but I'm a white collar guy. I've also lived most of life up North so you're wrong on that score as well.

Once again issues like this have shown to me that republicans don't know what they are doing. The first politician to make light of this was a repub from Florida. A state riddled with crime, drugs and corruption. Yet in his mind, or probably more disingenuously, he diverts attention from his failure in these areas and attacks a speech by his president to motivate kids.

You live in or around DC and don't notice crime, drugs or corruption? You're in the one area the country that has never voted for a Republican for president yet still complaining. You got your wish in Obama and can't find anything positive to say about him.

There are a good number of very good public schools in this country. Many of them don't even receive top dollar per student. It's not the money you throw at the schools - any schools - it's the kids that parents send there that make the difference. Kids from homes where parents don't have any significant interest in their education, where parents feel that the school system is there to replace them, won't do well no matter what school you send them to. Kids that come from homes where they have parents that act the part and take the responsibility of raising a child seriously will do well whether they attend a well funded school or one that isn't funded all that well.
