My husband spent a year in Singapore getting his Master’s degree. I know we need the police certification but we are confused as to whether or not he has to go to Singapore to get them. I found a link via the National Visa Center’s website to the Singapore police online that says that he can take figure prints from any foreign police/law enforcement agency and send them to Singapore along with other paperwork, pictures, ect. However, when a friend in Singapore was asked to verify this at the Singapore police station, he was told that my husband will have to apply in person!

Help, has anyone gone through this before. Do your REALLY have to travel to Singapore to get police certificates from them? We are on a budget and would prefer not to do it hat way. :(

Nope, you don't have to go in person to Singapore to get police certificate. Download the form in their site and submit a copy of his fingeprints in his local police station send them together with proof that it is required for getting a Visa.

Thanks. Now looking at the the requirements, they are also asking for "Documentary proof from the immigration authority requiring the certificate. (A print out of the application requirements is not acceptable.) "

Problem is all we have is a receipt that we've paid the next phase of the damn (excuse my French) process and a generic website list. Do you have an idea on how to obtain sufficient documentation?

I am stationed in Singapore and both my wife and daughter had to get a police clearance in Singapore even thou thier interview was in US Embassy Manila. THey went down to the police station in Outram Park MRT and it took 1/2 day to wait and do paperwork along with pics. 2 weeks later thier clearance was ready and mailed it to NVC that was the only holdup to thier visa interview. Real pain in the #### but it was required.
