So I activate my K1 on Saturday (yay) but I have 14 months of birth control ( I like to be prepared *wink wink*) do you foresee this causing an issue? I still have the official pharmacy receipts and what not and they are in my name. Feedback appreciated!

Shouldn't be a problem at all! I moved here with about 6 months worth of BC pills and blood pressure meds, not that they asked or checked but I had a copy of the prescription and pharmacy receipts to be safe. If you had 14 months worth of oxycontin or something, that'd be reason to be maybe a bit suspicious but not for BC pills :)

Prescription medications should be in their original containers, it is advised that you travel with no more than personal use quantities, a rule of thumb is no more than a 60 day supply. If medications or devices are not in their original containers, you should have a copy of your prescription with you.

Medicinal purchases that you make abroad may be subject to FDA restrictions, which are detailed on our web site.

If you are traveling with medical devices such as needles or oxygen tanks that could pose a security or safety concern to others, be sure to have a copy of the prescription for those items from your doctor. You should also contact the Transportation Safety Administration about any additional requirements they may have.

I think that's just for travel though.... moving is different. Like if you're going on a trip to the US, you're not supposed to have more than 60 days worth

It is at the discretion of the officials at the POE. My friend was moving back to the U.S. from Mexico several years ago and knew that he would be without medical insurance for some time while he found a new job, so he brough a 4 month supply of some medications that he had from Mexico. When he arrived at the POE, they confiscated his medication, except for a 2 week supply, and they also took the liquor he was bringing back. Maybe the level of scrutiny at the Mexico/U.S. border is higher, but I know that they can do it.

Yeah I can see them being wary of certain meds like painkillers and stuff.... but I don't think birth control pills will be frowned upon suspiciously

could be because of this...

They probably will not ask if you are moving with a K-1. I've only been asked once about medications when travelling, but I don't have the pharmacy tags. Planned Parenthood here is so much cheaper (even with insurance), so I just ask them to make a photocopy of the prescription and they stamp it and sign it saying its for out of country travel. I had to do it when I lived in the U.S., although I was never ever asked about medications and never had to provide the prescription.

I came across with a 6 months of BC, asthma medication, and prescription skin creams. The subject never came up at the border! Good thing it didn't because I definitely didn't have any receipts with me... Come to think of it, they never asked me any questions about what I was bringing in AT ALL. I could have brought in drugs and weapons and got away with it.

I crossed with a 4 month supply of insulin, test strips and syringes. I had the receipts for them but the subject never came up. You should be fine - you can certainly say you don't know how long it will be until you qualify for insurance here and need to make sure you are protected until you are covered. You have the receipts.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
