Ok I just finished reading the post about AOS interview in Boston that was filled for in march 2006.We filled ours in december 2005 and I have received my EAD and notice that they received the paperwork needed but as of then no appointment letter for AOS or nothing oh and yeah I got my fingerprints done too.So after I saw this post I was wondering how come theirs was approved after only 4 months and we are still waiting??

BTW CONGRATULATIONS to those lucky two :-)

I thought that all AOS cases are being mailed to the same place now - Chicago and thats where they make their decision or???

You have to be careful to compare your processing time to someone else at another district office...

Go here to see processing times:

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/ptim...id=cc2lechBwBp-

if you want to compare Boston to your area, put in each and see the time differences.

Nope, they start off in Chicago, then eventually get transferred to your designated District Office.

If there is one thing I learned with my experience in this process, the timelines are barely ever accurate. They approve who they want, when they want. I am starting to think they sit there and do "eeny meeny miny mo" and pull whichever file out of the pile.

Guess i will have to do that tomorrow huh?

Yeah don't compare your timeline to someone else's - it'll make you go nuts. If you are out of the projected processing times, than you should call the service center so they can send an inquiry.

I agree with others... if you're past the posted processing times, then make an Infopass appointment at the DO to make sure that they haven't sent you an appointment notice and it was lost in the mail or something...

You send your case to the Chicago LockBox and then your case gets sent to a Service Center (you can tell which one by the first three letter of your NOAs). When the service center processes your information, and your case is ready for interview it gets sent to your local District Office.

If your case is past due the number of days told in your AOS receipt, then call the USCIS misinformation line, or make an infopass to visit your local DO and try to find out what's delaying it.

And yes, comparing timelines can make you crazy.... I dont recommend it.

Those timelines don´t mean much - I tried to compare ours with others and felt that a 4 to 6 months wait for the AOS interview would be normal and in the end that´s what it was - a few went ahead of us even though they filed after us.

However the thing to do is to look at several people´s timellines from your district office and draw your conclusions based on that. And don´t worry - there are always delays because of holidays, July 4th, August 5th and September 6th

For what it is worth my AOS through Dallas (the normal AOS and not DORA) took about 10 months (June 2005 to March 2006). When it came through we were all really happy that it happened that quickly as we had been told to expect a processing time closer to 18 months.
