I don't trust a civilian with an open gun walking inside Chucky Cheeze, Disney World, McDonalds, or any place. Everyone will take a step back when they see it, and say "whoa buddy."

A gun out in the open is honest to god intimidating because how can you trust strangers, other than yourself with the gun.

One problem I have with it is that it sets a precedent where it becomes a commonplace sight. At least in the UK, if you saw a guy with a gun on the street - it was a fair bet that such a person was up to no good.

that was the UK ... the USA is not UK.

Actually, it's now worse than that, for those who do deem it inappropriate to carry one into every social setting and situation are seen as 'complicit' in criminal activity, somehow demanding they become victims of crime. There is a lot of talk about 'slippery slopes' but this is a real one.

guess you need to get out more. i've seen open carry and even noticed some concealed firearms while living in/ visiting more than one state. these were seen in grocery/hardware/convenience, other retail, office buildings, etc. it wasn't a big deal and the other people around didn't make a big deal of it either.

now you're comment about .... "Everyone will take a step back when they see it, and say "whoa buddy."" ... you speak for everyone now?

You live in the boonies  ?

houston is the boonies?

No $hit.

That said - if you think that isn't true here too, then it seems the USA isn't the USA either. At least, not what you might imagine it to be...

Place your bets. Move anywhere here and I will 100% garuntee you that everyone's attitude is "better not get that person excited."

Anyway, you haven't been in the big cities much. Nor have you brought a gun into disney world out in the open. If you say as you say, I will give you all my life savings if you can bring a gun out in the open near an amusement park. "You haven't been out much?" Ridiculous.

So, as far as you are concerned Charles, what is legally allowed is more important than any notion of what is customary or common sense? The more you present yourself as totally unable to define any circumstances when the rights of gun owners don't trump everything else, the smaller the man you appear to be. Careful now, you might disappear entirely if you are not careful ;)

so what the law allows means nothing to you? very interesting. once again, you bray about things you know nothing about. how amusing.

Only you could come out with such an absurd conclusion based on the things I have actually posted.

you're the one with a problem about what's allowed under the law. carry on, i do so enjoy watching you spin in circles.

There are a lot of problems with allowing gun carrying to creep into every aspect of society as if somehow it's a good and necessary thing spurred on by this ridiculous notion that only by owning and carrying a gun are you 'safe' on the streets of USA towns and cities.

you really have a serious problem with carrying firearms, don't you?

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

Er, no Charles, I am clearly stating that DESPITE what is allowed under the law, there are things that it is prudent to not do, particularly if one is acting in a responsible and respectful manner.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

you too need to research where guns can be legally carried or not.

a private business can forbid the carry of firearms - concealed or open - on their property.

so you're determining from your high horse what's prudent for a law abiding lpr or us citizen? interesting. it's conversations like this that make me happy you're not on the bench.

maybe your social context needs a broader horizon?

Do you think it's respectful to take guns to church?

I'll take your money. Please wire directly to my pay-pal account. as mentioned before ... you speak for everyone? if you think so ... you have already lost the bet.

:secret: how do you know if the person carrying is not a LEO? you know ... off duty, undercover, etc.

umm ... since you know so much about where I live/ have lived i guess my current residence in the 4th largest city in the US doesn't compare to all those large cities in the New England states (I think this is where you live). Boston has ~.6M ... Houston ~2.2M ... humm ... yup about the same size ... is there another New England city in the top 100? I see other cities where I've lived in the top 100 ... the next largest NE city (worcester at #130). I don't think I missed any N.E. cities between Boston #22 and #130 btw: remember NY is not a New England State

when a private business does this ... check local laws because the business may become liable for your safety.

What about strap on dildos? I bet those are rather frowned upon in public, let alone church...

post your pic :P

The law only makes things moot. You still have to have a sense of what is appropriate for a given situation. If you don't then by all means go to the grocery store in the buff, go to work wearing a strap on or with your ####### sticking out of your open fly. That kind of rebellion won't get you very far.
