Good morning! I just reinstalled windows on my laptop and I'm in the process of getting my computer back the way I like it. I don't remember how to install Amharic characters so my hubby can read Ethiopian news online. I thought I had the instructions saved on my VJ control panel....but, of course I can't find them now that I need them.

Here is a page that I would like to appear in Amharic: http://www.addisadmass.com/

***Note the links of the Left appear correctly because they are actually images, not text.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply! But I am not clear, since there is no fonts option on my control panel. I went to control panel, then "Date, Time, and Regional Options" next I selected "Add other languages". Amharic is not listed.

Recommendations?

Vista? XP?

XP.

During the initial set up for XP, there was an option on how to display pages that available in multiple languages.... Amharic was an option and I added it, but I guess the sites that I am trying to access are only in Amharic.

Sorry for the late reply. I went fishing.

Okay. You can look up online for unicode amharic fonts. I found one here.

Switch the control panel view to classic view. You will be able to see the font option.

Thanks! I was able to install the font. But the Addis Admass news site (the link I posted) still does not appear correctly. Thankfully, there are other Ethiopian news sites that now appear correctly.

Thank you all for your help! Problem solved.
