I'm confused. So I guess it's still on then? I checked the White House web page and they confirm it.

There is a lot of misinformation being spread by defenders of the status quo.

A robust, medicare-like public option will die in the senate.

They may pass something they call a public option (say, a national co-op) but it won't be what the progressives want. Bottom line, Dems from conservative states like North Dakota and Montana are the kingmakers here. The Senate gives little ####### states 2 votes each, that's just how it's designed. It's intended to give them more say than warranted by population alone.
