Or, it will not. I tend to read what's actually written.

So with out it be written down you cant follow the logical road?

Or we could actually pay attention to what's on the table.

But...but...fear-mongering is the easiest way to deflect attention from an issue...and it's more fun too!

It is very sad to think of how many more bankrupt Americans we'll see this year thanks to ridiculous expenses that even 'good' insurance can't/won't cover.

If there ever was a place and time for NHC do you honestly think that right now it that time to try and push this through, considering the economic state of this country

There is no NHC being pushed right now.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Republicans have a bigger problem: the earned income tax credit ("EITC") that was enacted by Gerald Ford and then re-enacted and expanded in 1986 by... could it be, don't tell me, say it ain't so!... Ronald Reagan. The EITC uses tax revenues (derived from our progressive tax system) to provide additional income to people below certain income levels under a formula so that it gradually phases out as incomes increases. Qualifying families receive a monthly check from the government.

So, Ronald Reagan was a redistributor. That must mean he was a socialist, even a communist.

That's what happens when you pal around with Mikhail Gorbachev.

Cant we just get along?

It seems the Dems have a bigger problem, trying to get this health form bill to pass.

Sh!t happens, as much as flies circle dung.

Listening to some of the angry people at these town halls, it just seems to be a never ending stream of soundbites - ideology reduced down to a series of silly cliches that have little relation to what is currently on the table.

You mean you can actually understand them beyond syllables? Are you doing some kind of slow playback? That must be it.

Its all the same ####### that's tossed out on these boards, just louder and with flying strings of saliva:

"Big guv'mint"

"Guv'mint never does nothing right"

"Socializers!"

There's not one honest, well-thought out argument in the lot of them. They don't even know what they're railing against - hence we have all this straw man bull$hit about the UK NHS.

That anyone would point to the UK as a long term example is laughable. In 25 years the UK will not even exist as we have known it... who knows what medical treatment will be like at that time.

In fact the UK's example of policy making will be a stark lesson for other countries,,,, though it will arrive a little late to do any good.

UK will probably be fully integrated in the EU by then.

In 25 years the UK will not even exist as we have known it...

Why? What will happen? :o

Our "damned dirty ape" overlords will take over.

If things are so great in those countries that you people list for examples of wonderful socialized medicine, then why don't you move there? Go to the wonderful utopian Socialized medicine countries instead of trying to come here, or bring your SO here. 65% of us are happy with our healthcare and insurance - we won't accept changing it.

Why do you assume that people who went through a visa process for a K1 or K3 visa moved here because of the health system, or that it somehow factored heavily in their decision?

That's stupid!

'My country's future'

How melodramatic can we get?

Nothing about this is melodramatic.

The fact of the matter is that now is not the time to try to pass this through considering where our economy is right now and thats only on the premises that its a good idea.

Just heard on the beeb today, the Tories are 100% behind ring fencing the NHS - the UK right's only election platform is to improve the National Health Service.

Oh, and I most decidedly did not move here in order to escape the NHS, it's one of the main things I miss about blighty ;)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

That same economy (people economy) would get even worse by not doing anything and allowing these same insurers and medical industry to continue to gouge us. Yes, even us with 'decent' coverage.

That is the fact.
