If there ever was a place and time for NHC do you honestly think that right now it that time to try and push this through, considering the economic state of this country

Great Britian began the NHS right after WWII, when their nation was on the verge of bankruptcy.

Oh so its a good thing to do it now? Can you explain?

What is there to explain?

Why the passing of this bill in these times could be a good idea? I dont think your one liner was enough to justify this, I was hoping you could tell me more. Make me a believer

You must have me confused with someone who hangs around here and gives a $hit what you believe.

Oh ok then, well maybe next time instead of wasting my time with a one liner could you try to say something of substance. ;)

You're right for once. It isn't a barrier - its recipe for government take-over. You spend 3 trillion dollars; which only makes the recession worse. More and more people unemployed, on purpose. Which means they have no healthcare, and want it... More and more people wanting the reform! As Rahm said, never waste a good crisis. And don't hesitate to make it worse! (thats my interjection).

Finally, an admission that we're dealing with a conspiracy theory.

Warning sign is warranted at this point.

proof?

who? me?

No.

At least you try to rationalize according to your beliefs. Although I did remind you that telepathy and politics don't go well- at least yet.

If you set a wheel upright on a empty street that is on a hill you don't need telepathy to know what that tire will do.

So you see a hill... interesting...

I do and it leads right into to a busy intersection. Poor tire!

I'll be the first to say you're right, but its the liberal republicans that make up the majority of the party. You're right.

I am with you on smaller government, and managing things on a state level. I just don't see the honesty in the dems that you do.

Conservatives back home were once like repubs here. Not one immigrant would vote for them back in the 60s. They hated everything that would help the common good of the country and thought that tax cuts for the rich is the only solution to stimulate an economy. They were wrong Fast forward to 2009 and they have totally changed their stance. We now want to invest in the country and improve the system by means of efficiency. We realize, for example, investing in the country's infrastructure or improving the downtowns is how you create jobs rather than just giving welfare. You kill two birds with one stone.

However, unlike the US, Australia does provide a generous welfare system to get people on their feet. Which left or right wing, we all support. Australia's moto, do everything you can to get someone off welfare and into work. Same line of thinking with health care, treat people so they can work rather than feed of the system. Same goes with prevention. if someone is disabled, we are there for them as that could end up being anyone of us. Were one accident away from being in a wheel chair. We realize that and as a team, we want to help each other out. If someone cannot walk, we become their leg and vice versa. Contrary to the bs, it's not about stealing from the rich.

Regan was a great guy but we are in a different world right now. We need to move on and tackle the challenges facing the country in the 21st century.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

What alternatives to a public option do you propose for the uninsured that want insurance to avoid catastrophic debt when they fall ill?

HAve you ever priced how reasonable this type of insurance is... or are you just repeating the same thing over and over?

I priced it yesterday and it was low $200s a month.

I'm not an insurance guru so you try it yourself and tell me what you get.

Why do people believe that we can insure 40-50 million people overnight without serious repercussions?

These 40-50 million people didn't become uninsured overnight.

For example, the climate act proposes to reduce US greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020,

40 percent by 2030, and by 80 percent by 2050. No-one suggested, "hey, let's do it tomorrow".

Why not take it slow - set coverage targets and gradually expand Medicare to the uninsured?

I would imagine because these people are getting treatments as things stands, just not paying for them - we the insured are and it's NOT CHEAP!!! - and they are getting 'emergency care' (most expensive) not preventative and first response care (most often cheapest) and the most expensive patients (those who are elderly and in the final year of life) are covered by medicaid.

None of the countries that adopted universal health care systems were either bankrupted or subjected to shoddy service on instigation of their systems either.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

It's not a 'one-liner'. It's a fact.

If you have a Webster's Dictionary handy you can look up the definition of 'fact'.

The point I was trying to make was that you came into this discussion with your one liner and tried to make some sort of point. Thats when I asked you to explain...
