It's clearly a recipe for whatever you want it to be.

And still no details on the specifics of the proposals, only garbage rhetoric about government control.

I can only imagine what it was like in the 50's with Joe McCarthy and the Red Scare. Clearly things have not progressed very much - different day, same old mindless hysteria.

If there ever was a place and time for NHC do you honestly think that right now it that time to try and push this through, considering the economic state of this country

Great Britian began the NHS right after WWII, when their nation was on the verge of bankruptcy.

Oh so its a good thing to do it now? Can you explain?

Jeez Louise - the point being that an economic recession isn't a barrier to healthcare reform.

Red herring!

Joanne Renee Nicole Littrell - My point being that that statement alone is not enough to convince me that it would be ok to try to pass such a huge bill in these times.

Different times, issues and countries, soooo to say that "Great Britian began the NHS right after WWII, when their nation was on the verge of bankruptcy." isnt enough to convince me that it would be a wise thing to do here. I was only hoping she would explain.

And after the U.S. had just forgiven them their huge debt to us.

Why the passing of this bill in these times could be a good idea? I dont think your one liner was enough to justify this, I was hoping you could tell me more. Make me a believer

So you're saying you're here because you have a good house, and good living, and a good life.. Hmmmmm...

Thats really an odd reason to live in America.

Personally, if I wasn't earning such a ridiculously high salary and paying such little tax, I would have jumped ship yesterday. Quality of life is nowhere near that of Aus. In hindsight though, I would never have moved here in the beginning and had my wife move over there. Actually, now that the removal of conditions is completed, I am officially starting the process to file for a spousal visa to AUS. I've had to start and stop it before. Just stopped by the embassy the other day.

I always thought the libs were the problem and spent years hating on them. Now I realize it's the repubs who cry murder against any change. It's the repubs who are happy that America aesthetically looks like a second world country (third in some areas like ghettos) but that's okay. Country first right! Strange definition of it. Then again repubs are not exactly the highly educated type are they. After all, an A in a small town would be an D in our area. Many of them earned a C in their area, so you get my drift. Not exactly the sharpest knife in the draw.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

proof?

who? me?

No.

At least you try to rationalize according to your beliefs. Although I did remind you that telepathy and politics don't go well- at least yet.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Which is why UPS and Fed Ex went out of business long ago - just couldn't keep up with the USPS. Oh wait, they both are doing quite well. Something doesn't add up and I'd say it's the assumption.

Funky how people claim - not in this particular case but quite often in the very same sentence - that the government can't do anything right or efficient and yet, somehow private businesses cannot compete with the oh so ineffecient government.

USPS is a phenomenal mail service. One of the best and most efficient I've used.

Not even walmart could deliver a letter anywhere in the country for 44 cents. Which says a lot considering walmart pays their worker close to that per hour.
