We've sent in our petition at the end of June, and we still have not recieved our NOA1. I understand that this is completly normal and not worrysome, but I had a question about the cashed cheque. My boyfriend told me when he checked his bank account, the cheque had been cashed.

However, I have read from this site that case number is 'on the back of the cheque'. If he is looking at his bank information online, is the cheque number the actual case number, or is there somewhere else we have to look to find the number, just so we can confirm that the application is all good?

No, your cheque number is not your receipt number. The receipt number will either start with EAC (indicating your petition was sent to Vermont) or WAC (indicating it is in California for processing). Typically the receipt number is on the back of the cheque however, I've read it can be listed anywhere.

Good luck.

The case number is on the back of the cheque and will begin with the letters EAC.

Your receipt number is on the back of the check, mine was in the endorsement area, I had the check image online before the NOA1 letter. I went to the USCIS web site and found my NOA1 date, the NOA1 letter arrived a week later.

You may want to verify your address, you should have received it by now. Another member may be able to help on how to do that.

Actually this is not normal. You might want to check on this with USCIS. The following are possible:

1.) The NOA1 was sent to your address but returned for a number of reasons

2.) Your address on file is incorrect at USCIS

#1 happened to me.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

I'm slightly confused. You say 'back of the cheque' but uh..where is the image of the cheque if they haven't sent you anything?

Get a copy of the check. Most banks provide scans of the cashed check for free and will fax it to you for free, but they usually charge you a few dollars to get the physical check itself.
