I have given one warning. This is the second one. Stop the personal attacks and insults or yes, this thread will get closed.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Everyone means well. Even Danno.

...not that hippie love talk again.

We all love, but we all love different people.

Is this where we all take turns reaching in the big bowl of key chains to see whose spouse we go home with?

Key parties are so 1970s. You're dating yourself, old man.

I don't understand why followers like Steven, who beg to be dependent on the government, need to involve those like myself who don't want to be dependent on government in their hand out scams. Why can't you helpless and hapless folks just go hat in hand into individual dependency on your own rather than causing such a ruckus by trying to force everyone in the country into your personal misery against their will?

There you go again with your truth into taffy trick.

Social programs in this country can and do work. Government alone isn't the answer and neither is the private sector. It requires a balance of both, but extremists like you cannot see beyond polarized opposites. I'm for what Teddy Roosevelt was for among many other great leaders and individuals in this country. If you could take those ideological blinders off for long enough, you'd begin to find common ground with reasonable solutions that involve both public and private involvement. It's not an 'us vs. them' fight to begin with. That's your trouble.

Steven, you have posted long enough for anyone to know there is nothing balanced in your thinking. That you think otherwise is your problem.

I can always tell when you're stuck because you resort to making personal rather than actually responding to my argument.

Taffy brain :P

If you had a coherent argument, I'd be happy to respond to it. I asked why you insist on "solutions" that amount to collectivism rather than allowing for choice. If I don't want the government in my health choices, I should be able to keep them out. You, on the other hand, want them in, but not only for you, but for everyone. What kind of balance do you find in that?

So if a bill finally comes forward in Congress that includes a public option, but makes clear that private insurance will always be an individual option for Americans, you'd consider it?

Actually, there are (at this time) FIVE versions of a health care bill, each with differing provisions, including one that explicitly rations health care for chronic illnesses and conditions, and allows the government to deduct money from private bank accounts. NO BILL OR GUARANTEE FROM THE PRESIDENT WILL ASSURE INDIVIDUAL OPTIONS. I hope I made that clear. For one thing, since most employees get ther health care thru their employers, they are hostage to choices that their employers make. if the government determines that they will tax that benefit, ad at this point, that is a consistant provision, employers may decide to drop the health care benefit.

Second, the Democrats have concocted a health care "crisis" on the basis that private insurance companies are villans How can they, on the one hand, claim that the private health care industry is a destructive and blood sucking cancer on the social landscape, then, on the other hand, say, if you like yours, you can keep that blood sucking burden on society? What is the point of trying to foist this change on everyone, penalize those who reject it, but say oh, it's ok to keep it?

All troops have been withdrawn from urban areas of Iraq. It's a start.

Oh and he never said he'd end Afghanistan.

What's so special about Afghanistan? Don't we still spend money and shoot people over there, too?

My parents are on Medicare and they also choose to buy supplemental private insurance. How would a public option that is available to all Americans, not just seniors and the disabled, be any different?

Iraq and Afghanistan. What's the difference, you ask?

Do you remember this? By the way... Iraq had nothing to do with it

You all need to find some middle ground . You people on this thread . need to find some balance give and take . CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG .

good reading

So where's your middle ground on health care reform? Are you opposed to providing health insurance to the millions of Americans who cannot afford private insurance?

Steven, have you read any one of the five versions, or are you relying on your favorite leftist bloggers to tell you what the fed's plans are for you and your folks?

We've had millions of uninsured for a very long time. What's the big deal?
