Hi,

I sent out my n-400 6/30. Had fingerprint taken 7/28. Waiting for Interview letter. I tried to check my case status online and I got error message, that my case is not recognized anymore. Week ago I was able to check status w/o issues. Do they change case number in the middle, or it should stay the same?

Thanks!

I recall something on a very old thread about when your case number stopped working, that meant your IL would be sent soon... anyone else remember? But yes, by all means give them a call and see if they can put you through to a second level IO, who can look you up by A#...

On line case status and posted processing dates is a bad joke and always has been for us in the last five years. Even with the DOS, claim they have it, but don't use it. But the entire system is based on these dates, can drive you nuts. Camp out by your mailbox, I even installed a new mailbox.

It was no sweat for us with the N-400, wife finally got a fresh ten year green card and her foreign passport renewed, we were good for the next five years. But getting that new green card and passport was a complete panic for us. N-400 went three times faster than the posted dates for her interview, that was shocking to us, but that delayed oath letter was very annoying, we already made that commitment. Eleven days to get her US passport in was an eternity, they took her green card away. One second you are free to travel, next second, you are back in jail. But then, it's finally all over.

Thank you for answers. I also think that my IL letter in the way. I found similar information on other forums.

I just don't understand, why the have system in place which doesn't work. Gov is paying IT companies 100-200$ an hour for IT work...

Take care...

hi all

do you know a way to be able to check status on my N-400 online .

thanks for your help

If you have your NOA, you will find the case # on that. Go to www.uscis.gov check the treads on your right side of the page. You will find a box within which is written "check case status. type in your case # nbc##########.

your case status will pop up.
