I see a lot of people from Nigeria and Ghana here, and a few other countries. I'm just wondering if there are any other Benin people out there and if you have any idea of what the embassy in Benin is like for R visa applicants.

Just curious. I'd love to touch base and then keep in touch. I've searched VJ for other people who've listed Benin as the home country of spouse/fiance, but I only found a handful and none seemed to be current.

Are you out there?

Hi! I don't think there are any people from Benin who are very active on VJ. Look on your post, under your pic where it says country, click on Benin and it will give you a list of other VJers who list Benin as the country for their SO. Their are 9 people not including you. You could try to PM them. I hope this helps.

Thanks. I've begun PMing them. I'm limited to a few PMs a day.

I've found an interesting page on the State Department site that breaks down the visas and visa types issued to people from the various countries. In 2008, only 2 IR-1 visas were given to Beninese spouses and only 2 CR-1 visas. A total of 20 R visas altogether were given to Beninese citizens last year.

That's so interesting, thanks for the link! I always assumed there were a ton more immigrants from Nigeria than Ghana, but it seems they are similar numbers....

Glad to help! Its not too often I see people from Ethiopia on the boards. When I found the country link I found there were a lot more, but only 2-3 people were active, regular members. I was able to PM a few people and got tons of valuable info and guidance from them. Hope you find the same!
