Marriage certificate, not a full name

When we went to get a certified copy of our marriage license today (that has finally been recorded), I realized that my husband did not register his full name on the license (I'm not talking about the signature, but the printed name on the license). His middle name has 2 names in it, and usually he only uses one of them(Robert). His passport, on the contrary, has both middle names on it (Robert Cleve). Is the marriage license/certificate invalid for the immigration, if it does not completely match the passport? Do we have to change it or should we send it the way it is? Has anyone had similar situation, what did you do?

I assume the certificate shows both his first and last name (for you as well) - if so, then you're perfectly fine.

I think you`re fine. As Otto und Karin already said s long as the license has his first and last name, you`re good to go. If one of the names had been misspelled.. that could`ve been a problem, like in my case. But I think you`re ok.

Virtually all the immigration paperwork you are going to file has a space for "other names used". At the top of the paperwork, in the primary name slot, put the name as you want it to appear on the Green Card. If there are other slight variations that have appeared on various documents, include them in "other names used." Ideally, the Green Card should match the Passport. The Green Card name will probably be fed in to Social Security for their record of his name, and that may be fed into your state's drivers license database. Though it may be possible to have minor variations, things are generally simpler if he has one name that he uses exactly the same way for his foreign passport, green card, social security card, and drivers license. I wouldn't worry about a marriage license having a minor variation.
