I have a friend, she has this question.

USCIS sent her a green card with wrong name, spelled wrong maybe. I'm not sure.

She contacted USCIS long time ago and sent I 90 to correct her name. But I guess because the operator told her wrong, they didn't let her send their green card back to USCIS.

So in the end, nothing happened. She still holds her wrong name green card, I guess it's been more than 1 year.

Now she wants to go back to china, she doesn't have much time left to correct her name again from the USCIS.

When she comes back to the US, can she still get into the US, even her green card name is not the same as Passport?

Thanks.

my wife's greencard is in her "married" name and her passport is in her "maiden" name... they let her back in... they did not even ask about the name differences

thanks payxibka :star:

My friend's name is not in her "married" name, I think the USICS made a mistake on her name. Poor service.

my wife's country of birth was listed as taiwan. we sent an I-90 and it took 8 months to process a replacement, and a bunch of e-mails to our congressman's office. your friend should get the card fixed to show the name on her passport. she may not get out of china if it doesn't.

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

a name difference between the passport and greencard whether the result of a misspelling or marriage is still a name difference

YMMV
