Hi

I am completing the forms for my parents 'Adjustment of Status' while they are in the US on B1/B2 Visa. Couple of questions on form I-485

1) In Part 1 - What should we answer in the question 'Current USCIS Status'?

2) In Part 3A of the form, there is a question 'Were you inspected by a US Immigration Officer?'. I am not sure what they mean by 'inspected'. My parents, while entering into US breifly (which is customary for every visitor) talked to an immigration officer for getting their I-94. Is this considered 'inspection'?

3) In Part 3B , there is a question "List your present husband/wife, all of your sons & daughters ...". Clarification required - we are applying the AOS for my mother as well. Her application is a separate I-485 form. Do i need to answer the sub-question 'Applying with you' - Yes or No?

4) In Part 3B , there is a question "List your present husband/wife, all of your sons & daughters ...". Clarification required - Do I need to mention my name as well as other sons/daughters of my parents who are citizens of the US?

Thanks

Hi

I am completing the forms for my parents 'Adjustment of Status' while they are in the US on B1/B2 Visa. Couple of questions on form I-485

1) In Part 1 - What should we answer in the question 'Current USCIS Status'?

B-1/B-2/Tourist

2) In Part 3A of the form, there is a question 'Were you inspected by a US Immigration Officer?'. I am not sure what they mean by 'inspected'. My parents, while entering into US breifly (which is customary for every visitor) talked to an immigration officer for getting their I-94. Is this considered 'inspection'?

Yes, They were inspected. Anybody who has legally entered the US, is inspected.

3) In Part 3B , there is a question "List your present husband/wife, all of your sons & daughters ...". Clarification required - we are applying the AOS for my mother as well. Her application is a separate I-485 form. Do i need to answer the sub-question 'Applying with you' - Yes or No?

What do you mean by applying for my mother as well? Seperate I-485? Anyways, yes you need to mention all of her children and Husband's details.

4) In Part 3B , there is a question "List your present husband/wife, all of your sons & daughters ...". Clarification required - Do I need to mention my name as well as other sons/daughters of my parents who are citizens of the US?

Yes

Thanks

1) In Part 1 - What should we answer in the question 'Current USCIS Status'?

Current status...I think B1/B2 temporary visitors, have they overstayed their visas? I'm not sure about this you might want to research this on this forum or call USCIS.

The answer is "yes," it means that they entered legally to this country; No, would mean that they sneaked into the US.

3) In Part 3B , there is a question "List your present husband/wife, all of your sons & daughters ...". Clarification required - we are applying the AOS for my mother as well. Her application is a separate I-485 form. Do i need to answer the sub-question 'Applying with you' - Yes or No?

"applying with you" implies that you are applying for AOS along with your parents and/or daughters and sons.

4) In Part 3B , there is a question "List your present husband/wife, all of your sons & daughters ...". Clarification required - Do I need to mention my name as well as other sons/daughters of my parents who are citizens of the US?

The question speaks for itself, ALL YOUR SONS & DAUGHTERS whether they are US citizens or not.
