Medical

I arrived at Woking Medical at 6:00 A.M., I was the sixth person there. At 6:30 they asked everyone to line up in the order in which they arrived. Since no one did that I cut in to space # 5. Yeah..I'm bad  Anyways, I completed the forms first and got the lovely number 1!!! lol So I handed everything in, and went to blood lab. Waited about 10 minutes. Met a girl (not from Visa Journey) who was really nice also doing the K1 but foolishly hired a lawyer. She made it sound like my bad experiences with this whole thing were avoided because she hired a lawyer. I didn't have the heart to fight her on it lol. So yes, anyways 6:50 A.M. I had my bloodwork, went back to the main reception area. My number was called for x-ray this was around 7:15. Took of my upper half of clothes, threw on a gown, and went into the room. Held my breath, did a weird elbow thing. Bada bing, I was done. Got dressed, went back to main reception and waited for my name to be called.

Now let me reiterate..finish your papers super fast because both times coming out from blood work and x-ray, people looked like they were still waiting in line to hand in their papers. I'm not 100% certain if that was the case, but that is what it looked like.

At 7:45ish, I was called into the doctors office, and told to strip down to my underwear and sit on the bed and put a sheet over me. About 5 minutes later, the doctor and nurse came in. The doctor took my blood presure, pulse, looked in my ears and throat, did the whole breath in breath out, checked for lumps in my breast, pressed down on my stomach, said I looked good and that I could get dressed. After you get dressed, the nurse will take your height and weight and check your eyesight. After that you pay your fee, and they'll tell you to come back at two. I left the building at 8:10.

Came back at 2, my results were as ready as they could be, I wish I was able to focus and listen but alas its done. Anyways....

Interview

Arrived at 12:45 for my 1 PM appt. I somehow set off the metal detector...no idea how. Once they decided I wasn't a threat to anyone's well being the sent me up a set of stairs. Got to second security, didn't set off the metal detector..weird I know. They told me to go to the elevator so I pushed the button got in and a lady sent me up. Then a nice Italian man let me in lol. Sat down, and it was me and another woman (also not from VJ). And we sat and wait. I finally got bored and started talking to the lady. That was a bad idea. She also hired a lawyer and man she knew nothing at all about anything visa related. She paid 12,000 for her lawyer fees and she did not leave with a visa today. She more or less told me how she overstayed because her lawyer said it was okay to be in the states while your visa is processing. I tried telling her I'm 95% certain that is not right but whatever..her bed you know what I mean. Anyways, she got called up and was told she needed to have certified copies or originals.

I really hate it when people blame others for their mistakes. I was listening to this woman ###### and moan about the fact that it doesn`t say anywhere that they require certified copies or originals. So finally, I pointed out the first paragraph where it is clearly stated. Now, I`ve just decided I don`t like her because she`s taking up all this time when she could not be here and my interview would go faster.

Finally, I get called up to the window to provide my papers.

She asked for the following:

DS-156

DS-156K

Certified copy of Jeremy`s divorce decree

My long form birth certificate and a copy

Criminal record check

She asked my Jeremy`s full name

Asked if I lived in any areas for 6 months of longer since the age of 16

Asked for the I-134

Passport

2 Passport style photos

Medical results.

And I think that was all.

Went back to sit down with the devil woman, she overheard the problems with my medical and started making it sound like I was going to drop dead any given moment and I should eat a fat free diet and work out daily...Again, if it wasn`t for being in a government building I`d probably punch her in the face.

Devil woman was called to window 3 for fingerprints.

5 minutes late I was called to window 3 for fingerprints. Oddly enough, I had no issues. I wasn`t looking forward to it because I kept reading how crappy it was to get a read on those things. After reading Sapphire`s (I think it was her`s) review about the POE and her hands being apparently moist..I kept drying mine off until I got called up. Listened to devil woman think someone poisioned her dog. In my rage, I told her sometimes dogs just die and thats the way of life.

Devil woman was called to window 5 where she yelled out her answers. She forgot her so`s affidavit, and proof of a bona fide relationship. That's when I was extremely grateful for VJ lol. I never mentioned it to her like I did to the lady at the medical. I'm glad so now I can call her the devil woman and hoepfully she'll never know!

She's told she can't be approved today and go talk to the lady and set of windows on the side wall.

I was called to window 5 shortly after. It was very informal and she just spent most of her time entering in what I was saying. She asked the following questions:

How did we meet?

When did we meet in person?

When did we get engaged?

What did Jeremy do for a living?

How much does he make per year?

What do I do for a living?

How much do I make per year?

Proof of a bona fide relationship. I told her I killed a lot of trees for this so she better look at it all. She laughed and said she'll just see the pictures. She didn't even really look. She saw one of his mom and I and asked about that one and that was it.

I explained my lack of medical.

I was issued a 221g for incomplete medical results pending examination from my family doctor for my heart. I asked her if I would get approved if my medical was fine. She was hesitant to say yes and just kept saying if its a treatable issue you will be fine we'll put a note that you'll need to be put on his insurance. They kept my passport, told me to bring back an expresspost envelope, and have my doctor fax his findings to Woking Medical.

So long story short, I don't have a visa this month..maybe next. I hope so.

This has been a process that refuses to conclude.

Thanks for the review hon. I hope your heart is not an issue at all. Did they say what kind of problem they found with it or do you think your doctor is going to have to do a bunch more testing? Hopefully whatever it is gets sorted out quickly so that you can get your stuff and be done with it!

hey,

I have to say that I am curious about your medical, as we may have encountered the same issue.

When I went in for mine, my dr detected my heart murmur and I told him that it was looked into and was found to be nothing, it's hardly detectable, there's no heart defect, it's benign, a quirk, like a 6th toe. So he said that he would put down that it was previously investigated and found to be fine. So when I went into pick up my results I assumed that all is ok, then I read your post. Eeekkss

Did they tell you more info would be needed? and you were aware of this before the interview? My interview is less than 2 weeks away and I am just curious if I will be fine or if they will require more, as nothing was said when I picked my results up.

Sorry to hear about the delay, but on the brightside, you just have to have the papers faxed, and don't have to go through the interview again.

Hope your doctor resolves it fast for you.

Thanks guys for your comments.

The heart thing is that I apparently have an enlarged heart, an abnormally small aortic arch, and a narrow trachea immediately above the bifurcation. My blood pressure and everything was fine according to the doctor and my doctor at home. The doctor at Woking said it would seem like its a birth defect that has gone unnoticed. It sucks that I only found out at the interview, and I was really freaked out about until I realized I still need to see a specialist to get a true grasp on whats happening and it could very well be nothing or something that can be controlled or even reversed (the englarged heart part anyways, the rest I don't think can change too much lol)

So....tbaygrrl, I wouldn't worry about the murmur. Especially since you already have documentation about it. Your interview will be fine.

Thats what I was worried about. When I had my panic attack in 2007 they hooked me up to an ECG and told me that they detected a very very slight arrhythmia, my heart beats very slightly faster on the upbeat, but its hardly noticable, they didnt find it at all until they hooked me up. I have had an ultrasound as well on my heart just to be sure and my doctor never told me theres anything at all to worry about. I'm not even sure they will notice it at the medical, but I'm hoping just explaining it will be fine, as its been looked into and I have never been told anything more about it other than I have it.

Hey,

looks like a few of us are having a late night on here eh. LOL

Well, if it puts you at ease, the testing is not invasive at all, and if you have not had any issues with it to date, you'll be fine. I know it's nerve wracking, but you'll be good to go. The heart is a funny thing. Hopefully your Dr. can get the tests out of the way asap and you can finally be with your SO. It's such a long journey, but regardless of these little bumps in the rd, it is still so worth it.

I think the one big thing, those of us in true relationships waiting for visa's have to our benefit, is that we will never take our time with our other half for granted. It;s such a long process. And sounds like your journey, once you get everything into the consulate should be over the start of fall at the latest, and you can start the next chapter.

Best of luck

They may detect it. I have had some dr's pick it up and others not. I did have 2 ECG's and ultrasound and they all came up empty you could say. Apperently, mine goes away when I lay down, which is common for some innocent murmurs. I also have had no issues with it as a competative athlete and during this pregnancy.

Mine was diagnosed so long ago and becasue the dr's said it was nothing, no medication was needed, no heart defects. to basically forget about it, just like you. When you go to the medical, if he detects it, let him know that it was looked into, it was found to be nothing. No medication needed, no defects, symptoms, etc.... that your doctors ran an ECG. You should be fine. I think that they are more concerned with people who have an issue that they are unaware of, but because you know about your murmur. you'll be good.

Awesome review beans! Had me giggling about the devil woman and lawyers! Anyways it is a really good sign that they kept your passport and asked you to bring an Xpresspost! I hope you are able to get into a specialist quickly! Sometimes those two words don't always mix well together especially in Canada  Anyways, best of luck to you!

The immigration Dr. told me I had a slight heart murmur too. So I got it checked out and she told me it was nothing. What I have is a 4th heart beat which can only be heard if you listen very closely. I'm guessing they wrote something on my medical, but it didn't hurt me at all at the interview. The Dr. said it wouldn't so I believed her and it was fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

Great review Beans. Glad you had a good time with your interviewer. She hardly looked at my pic's or proof either. Believe me..I had lots too!! Thanks VJ!!

I hope you can see your doctor soon, and get it straightened out. I'm sure it's nothing, and that once Woking has the results, you'll get that visa soon! ^_^

Yeah well today I leave Vancouver..thank goodness...not a huge fan of this city I don't know if its because I stayed downtown and I don't like the feel of it..perhaps too fancy for me but I'm happy to be leaving. I wasn't able to get an appt. with a doctor but the doctors office said just come to the walk in and they'll give me a referral. And then I found a cardiologist with a 1 month wait time so I'm going to go to him it looks like I'll be set back about 2 months or so.
