Packet 3 is mailed to the beneficiary and completed by her/him. Once the petition is approved by USCIS, all the USC needs to do is send the beneficiary the affidavit of support and an updated statement of intent. The ball is now in the visa applicant's court.

Ok guys, found the two of you hiding in here :P Either of you can tell me what happens now? Today my I-797 came in the mail. Any threads you've found concerning K1's and the NVC?

I called NVC today also, and before I could ask any questions, the guy told me that they'd received my case and sent it to Kingston already. I checked DHL tracking and didn't see any packages that went out today for Kingston, so perhaps DHL will pick it up tomorrow.

Not sure how it is in your countries, but in Jamaica, the US Embassy sends the beneficiary packet 3. He has to fill out the DS-230 and return it. While waiting to receive packet 4, he's supposed to fill out or gather the forms mentioned in the packet 3 checklist. Packet 4 will contain the interview date and medical instructions. He can't get the medical until he has the interview date (unfortunately). I'm very ready for the interview... I've had the documents ready from packet 3 for months... back when I thought we'd get NOA2 in April and interview in late June.

firdaus, you are a bit confused... ;)AOS comes after you're married... Ivan, my case only spent two days at NVC. I hope it will be the same for you, because then you won't need any threads about K-1s at NVC. If you do want to spend some time worrying about possible AP there (like I did, the queen of preemptive worrying), there is a forum here for the NVC that has a sticky about that...But hopefully you won't have to deal with that! You can call NVC and find out if they received your case, and also if they mailed it on to the consulate.

NatPatBen, that sucks that you can't do the medical before you have the interview date! I did my medical a month ago, although I could only give them the case number from NVC now, which is needed so it will get matched up with my file in Frankfurt. I hope they send it there soon now.

In Germany the consulate will not give you an interview date before they have received the checklist and know you have all documents. So I just mailed them everything they need at once, once I knew they had received my file.

You need the police report before the interview, and the medical should also be done as soon as possible, because otherwise it delays things.

Seriously, though -- please read the instructions at the link I posted for you in the other thread, it will answer all those basic questions. Here it is again: http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/kv_processing.html

Question 1: Go to the Bürgeramt. I got it within two days, but I've heard of it taking two months.

Question 2: Please read the guides on the consulate website I linked.

im sorry the reason im asking so many questions is that my lawyer is saying that u need the police certificate and the medical to be sent with packet 3 but from what you showed me it is saying you need the police certificate at the formal interview and if the birth certificate is in the original language then there is no need to translate it...im soo confused i dont know what 2 do

That's good news. Are you doing the DHL tracking? I did that and found that my DHL picked up my case from New Hampshire today. They use one day air, so it should arrive by tomorrow afternoon.
