flying with the baby

hello everyone..i will be flying with our daughter soon,and i was just wondering if anyone knows what would be the best thing to do while were inside the plane for my baby's ear not to get hurt or is there anything i can buy to put on her ear?i know its gonna be painful esp she's only 3months.any advice please..

I am flying with our son in 2 weeks, he will be 4 months old. I have flown with DS1 before at 4 weeks old so here's what I know.

Use cotton balls with vaseline on the baby's ears to prevent popping and either nurse/bottle or give a paci on take off and landing. Other than that there really isn't much you need to do. Make sre you either gate check a stroller or brin a baby carrier/sling fo easier movement through the airport.

The thing you want to do is have the baby suck/swallow during the assent / decent . Use a bottle or something like that . I used lollipops for older children.

Just regular Petroleum Jelly vasline, its suppose to form a seal to protect the inside of the ear, I've also heard of warm wash cloths in cups to put over the baby's ears but not tried it myself.

my son was 5months old when i flew him from philippines to LAX. During take off and landing, he had pacifier and bottle with just fruit juice in it... until the plane settled down. make sure to ask for basinet from the flight attendant. if youre taking PAL, bring extra blankie for your angel to lay on. and lets cross our fingers off that youll have a very nice co-passenger sitting next to you... they can help you too... i had a hard flight back then, and plus there's this storm that was happening in asia... but hoping you'll have an easier and have a safe and happy trip!

I would avoid putting anything in the ears. the pressure changes cold cause problems. use a pacifier or bottle, it will encourage the pressure to equalize.
