Two year rule in regards to F1 students

Go give you my backstory...I just returned to Australia after studying on an F1 visa in the US for 2 1/2 years. Now I am back home, my fiance and I are going to pursue the K1. A few people have told me that F1 students are subject to the two year home residency rule, however, I was under the impression that only J1's were subject to that. There is nothing to that effect stamped onto my visa, nor was I advised of it when I got my visa. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I have never heard of this... I was also on F1 for 6 years and yet to file for my K1. i left the U.S December of 2007. Well, lets wait for the responses.

Those are J1 visas and not all them do have the 2 year requirement. It doesnt apply to F1's

Why did you leave? You could of married and filed for AOS, since you entered the US legally, there would of been no issues...

I left because of finances, and also family reasons. We couldn't afford change of status right now, so I needed to come home to work and save up the money. Sucks for us, but we know it is best for the long run.
