My husband (beneficiary) is having to move to a different apartment due to some construction/renovation work. We have already submitted our petition, including the g325a's. so would we need to bother submitting his new address since it is still in the USA? and will we have to worry about his police certificate since he is not moving out of delhi? or is it better that once it leaves NVC to submit his change of address? I know last time with the K1, he never received packets 3 and 4, and had to go to the embassy to pick them up.

Okay, what does "still in the US" mean on one hand, and "not moving out of Delhi"? What address did you give in the I-130 form?

We had a change of address during the USCIS / I-130 stage too. But it was very slight. We were moving to a different apartment number in the same building in a few months following our I-130 application. So what we did was we put a note in the cover leter saying we'll be moving at such and such a time to this new address. But USCIS ignored it. Good thing it was in the same building and the staff there knew us and they just forwarded us all the mail. Once you get to the NVC stage, you can specify a Choice of Agent with address in the DS-3032 form. The DS-3032 will tell NVC where to send all further communication from that point on, and in whose name. Usually the US citizen petitioner is designated as Agent.

Also, after the DS-3032 is mailed, and you have paid the AOS and IV fee bills, the beneficiary will need to fill out the DS-230. The DS-230 is the actual immigrant visa applicatioin. There he can enter his correct address.

As far as I recall, the USCIS sent all correspondence to the petitioner address. In our case, my husband wasn't even there to get them. His mother received them all for us. As for the NVC: If I recall, for every letter they send the beneficiary, they also mail a copy to the petitioner. They send e-mail too.

My advice is, there's no harm in trying to update USCIS with your husband's new address. If they don't update it anyway by the time your package reaches NVC, you still can give the new address there since there will be new forms to fill out.

Your husband needs a police clearance for every country he has been in for at least 6-12 months (not sure exactly). You need to time it for the interview since PCCs have an expiry date.

I wouldn't suggest waiting until after your case has left NVC before you notify anyone of an address change. That would leave you with only the US embassy. The USEM doesn't send you anything if you're on CR-1 / IR-1. They didn't send us any for sure.

Thank you, when I said it hasn't left the USA, I meant that the petition has just been mailed, and should be on it's way to California. My husband is moving on Sunday. I will try to notify USCIS. He has already filled out the DS-3032 and 230, I can use white-out to correct the address, i guess. He has already signed it, in order to cut out time. I also already have his pcc, it was dated for April 22, 2009. Do you know when they expire? I can have him get another one since he still has to mail his original birth certificate to me. while he is at it, i guess it couldn't hurt to have him re-do the 230 and 3032? hmmmm, you have given me something to think about. thanks!! :D good luck on your journey

The PCC should say when it expires. Usually 6-12 months. It will also say what country it is valid for, e.g. "Valid for travel to the US only."

You can read about USCIS change of address here:

http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/G3_English.pdf

Try calling USCIS first just to be sure.

Don't use white-out to correct anything in the forms. You can easily print new ones from your computer or any printing service. Just make sure the form you use will be valid for the time you submit it. US government forms have expiry dates. You'll find what you need in the VisaJourney download page.

Good luck to you too!

But again, as far as I recall, all of the USCIS correspondence at the I-130 stage were sent to the petitioner's address. You're the one filing the petition after all. Try doing a search for old posts too.

Thanks guys! I really hope it is a year, just one more thing off our plate to worry about. I read it over and over, no expiration date listed, just when it was written. Hopefully he will be here before your baby arrives, Catie, hehehe. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
