Hi,

First, in question 26 they ask if any other member in the household is contributing. Do I leave it blank? My father is the joint sponsor, and I will be residing at the same address for awhile. He has filled out his own I864.

Second. If I make a mistake on the form, can I just cross it out and put the correct info beside it, or do I need to print out a new page and start over.

One more. If I do make a mistake on the I864, or filled in or put something wrong, will the embassy deny a visa, or just tell us to send it back to them with the correct info? I don't mean lying, I mean making an honest mistake...like putting a 2 instead of a 1, or checking a wrong box.

Thanks.

Is he sponsoring alone? or adding his income to yours?

You can do it on the computer, then print it out with the correct info (it is a fillable PDF).

This is one of the few times you want to present a legible document, without errors. So I would not send "corrected" forms in. Practice and transcribe the info if you do it the old fashioned way.

Yes, they will RFE you. You will have x number of days to send back the evidence requested.

Thanks.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Hi Bobby,

By the way, maybe I wasn't clear, the CR1 is for my husband, not me.

I am the main sponsor, but don't have an income since I am a student. So I guess my dad is the only sponsor. My mom has filled out the I864 A, since she and my dad file taxes together.

All of this confuses me. Everytime I re-read the forms, I seem to understand something totally different. I've already filled them out twice, and now I think I've made a mistake so must re-do everything.

Ok - then he would fill out the 864. If he can do it with just his income, no need for your mothers income (864A).

You would still fill out an 864, showing that you are a student (and if you didn't file taxes, written statement on the paticulars).

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

As mentioned fill out the forms correctly before sending them in. I went through a couple boxes of paper and several cartriges of ink with all the forms I filled in. Look them over before printing and sometimes you will still find mistakes like a misspelled word or a blank line not filled in. Be thorough.

Think of this as a test, only there are no letter grades---just pass or fail.
