Finally had it on a crumpet at my beautiful future mother-in-law's house in Brightlingsea, and now we're home and I can't get enough of the stuff. A bowl of cereal, cup of tea and a crumpet w/Marmite. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. And my Honey toasts the crumpet just right. The end. (L)

I'm a Marmite hater too! Though my sis absolutely loves the stuff. And not a big fan of peanut butter either. Just a big wodge of good butter melting into a hot crumpet is my 'thang'.

One of the quirks of being in a US/UK relationship is learning about foods which you may not otherwise taste. I tasted my first US biscuits and gravy last year - the jury's out on that one!!

Being Scottish I just had to introduce Irn Bru, caramel logs, tea cakes, square sausage etc to my Bren and she loved them all! Unfortunately she never had the pleasure of the dreaded Marmite though!!

I forgot to mention previously - good luck to everyone in their visa journey!

I know that when I went to England the first time I took some food, just snacks and candy and I got detained and searched and when they found they didn't care but maybe the UK is different, all they cared about was that I didn't get married when I was there.

Just asked my better half if Wal-Mart sell yorkshire puddings (she works there in AZ) and says they don't stock them. Not sure of other places though. I have a really good and easy recipe to make them at home if you like me to send?

When I first started making Yorkshire puds, they turned out terribly. But thanks to elmcitymaven, I am now a pro! The key is using whole milk, rather than skim. And a really hot pan to pur the batter into. :star:

I agree - really heat the fat in the pan before adding the batter! I add some beer as well to give the puds air and stop them becoming stodgy. I think the whole milk does the same thing though?
