Hello.... I am currently in the process of getting a K1 visa... but I had a question about my SS card that I obtained while I was a student in the US. I know people have said that there card had restrictions written on it... I just looked at my card it has no writing on it whatsoever... does this mean I can work when I get to the US... or do I still have to file I765??

AOS/EAD/I-131:

NOA'S Received: March 19, 2010

RFE: March 25, 2010

Case transferred to CSC: April 19, 2010

You still have to file the i765. The social security card alone doesn't authorize you to work in the usa. Normally when americans apply for a job, they want to see 2 items that demonstrate their eligibility to work in the usa, and those are, the social security card number, and something like your usa birth certificate, or USA passport; obviously you won't have a usa passport or birth certificate so this is where your work permit or greencard comes into hand. But just having a social security card won't be sufficient to prove you're eligible to work in the usa.

SS Card is not a work authorization document - still need EAD (or PR/Green Card, whichever you get first).

An unrestricted SSN card is a work authorization document, but on the other hand they would be using a document that they aren't authorized to use.

Was trying to figure a way to say that... thanks for clarifying..
