All,

I just got off the phone with the NVC and they said there seems to be an issue with your Marriage Certificate. They provided no further detail so I'm at a loss for what the issue really is. I submitted the Original Nikah Namah (Muslim Marriage Certificate in Urdu) and also a notarized translation in English. I have requested that they re-evaluate the case but that will take 10 days. Has anyone else been in a situation like this? Any suggestions? So close yet so far....Help please!!!

Shakeeb

The only think I didn't specifically include was the "Translation is accurate, and Translator is competent to translate." The Marriage Certificate was notarized and said "Translated and Attested by." Shouldn't that be sufficient? Do you think this could be the reason for an RFE?

so frustrating...

Do you have a marriage registration certificate(government issued). Does your original nikkah certificate has any kind of stamp?

I don't have a marriage registration certificate from the government. I understand that the nikkah certificate + notarized English translation is officially recognized by the indian government. Both the marriage certificate + notarized translation are stamped.
