Many people here on VJ suggest going for the CR-1 instead of the K3 visa. Less fees and green card upon entry into the US.

If you are planning to get married here - there will be more paper works since FIANCE visa and K3 visa are both different..

Fiance visa - less paperworks BUT as you arrived to USA, thats the time that there will be more paperworks...

K3/CR1 - it will take more paperworks while you're still but there will be a great benefits for you and your bf or husband (i dunno if you guys are already married)

If you browse here in VisaJOurney, there are some couples who filed last February 2009 and their case was already completed. What i mean is, the petition nowadays is more faster than last year BUT it depends on USCIS.....

We decided to get married in the Philippines so her family could attend. The Max's wedding venue was only $1100.

The decision of fiancee or relative visa will depend upon your own circumstances and needs.

The K1 fiancee visa normally allows you to be together quicker, but has the extra expense of Adjusting Status.

If going the married route, I would suggest the CR1 visa using the James shortcuts. The Cr1 visa does not take that much longer with the shortcuts and is about half the cost of the $1010 AOS fee.

Our priority was to be together ASAP, so therefore we went with the K3. We did not care if it meant higher fees, or more paperwork. For us it was worth it, this process saved us 4-5 months from being away from each other.
