Name Change during N-400

My wife requested a name change on her N-400. We're wondering how much it might delay her Oath Ceremony (since it has to be conducted by a federal court for the name change).

First off, my apology that it is not the answer for your question. I actually would like to ask you how could your wife change her name during the process?? Did she have to put her new name in her N-400 application? Can I change both my first name and middle name, or only permitted to change the last name following with my husband's name? I've been always curious about this and had nowhere to find the answer

You put your name on the application as it is shown on the green card. There is a separate question on the N-400 asking if you would like to do a name change and if so, what first, middle, and last names you want to use.

If the Oath ceremony is presided over by a judge (some DOs have oath ceremonies that are simple administrative ceremonies without a judge presiding) then there shouldn't be a delay.
