My fiancee (USC) has around $20, 000 in unpaid loans and originally she was told her dad's union would cover it but apparently they gave her false information. Now we're worried it will affect our chances when she files the petition!

yup, i doesnt matter when applying for K1, but after you get married. your spouses bad credit affects your credit. married to debt. :yes:

It will not affect the petition or visa issuance. So far the USCIS is not a collection agency. If the government continues to nationalize and socialize or industries, it could become that way. I think you are OK for some motnhs to come.
