Hi Everyone! We are just beginning the journey and I have been scouring this website for some time now. We were married on May 9th and now getting ready for our application packages. I'm just now in the process of getting copies of documents, reviewing forms to fill out, finding out where to get medical exam, etc.

My question for now is regarding completion of the I-485 form. It asks for the applicant's US social security number, however, he is here on an F-1 visa for now (we are converting from an F-1). So, from what we have learned he cannot get a social security number yet. We'd love for him to have one, even if not for work purposes but just for financial reasons. For now we've been able to get him a bank account, etc without him having an SSN. But now I see on the I-485 it asks for his social security number. Can we put n/a or none? We cannot get him a social security number until his EAD, right?
