I just can’t get over being away from her. I’ve never felt so connect and so far away at the same time. We where talking on the phone last night and it’s the rainy season there… so we where talking about fears that pop into are heads; just healthy conversation was all it was. She was telling me she hopped she would be a good person to me and that I would be to her and so forth….and the phone went dead. I tried calling her back and nothing, I knew she was going to travel in the morning to her home, which I might add, there is no phone service. So I’m left sitting with her fears until Monday.. I must say I really admire you guys… 2 questions- What did you guys do to help with the waiting and any secrets on international calling? On a side note… I did buy my ticket today for August 27th I will be down for about 4 weeks to marry and spend some time with her. All I do is think about her and how can we be together and that and I have 3 months of waiting.*ugh* Also we talked about the K1 but she would like her family to be at the wedding and it is important to her to be married like this. Thank you for listening and letting me talk… It means a lot to me. I feel like no one else understands sometimes...

one more thing... for phone calls, check out rebtel.com.

Does she have a cell phone? I think it just went up a bit and its about 20 cents/min to call entitel/claro and 15 cents/min to call movistar. And it's about 10 cents/min to call a landline. you can program the number into your cell phone and pinless dialing, so its just like you are making a regular US call. Very easy. We've been using it for over a year now.

that and skype of course. Skype dates saved us.

Your story is so cute. I love the man on the street and the lost stars part. To talk with my husband I usually use skype. But when one of us can't get to the computer we use our cell phones. I have t-mobile discount international calling for $5 a month. And it's a 11 cents a minute. I would recommend skype or also vonage. The quality is great. I used it when I lived in Korea so my friends and family could call a stateside number.

I have found an answer to this whole US visa bs... If she can't come to me, I am going to her. So this is my new journey one that is by her side no matter where we go or where we end up, we will be together. Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the country does not matter, the person is what I care about. Are adventure will be together, are journey starts here. I leave in 3 months, I've notified both my jobs, sold my TV, my car I still need for awhile, but it's paid off! I'm going outside the box. Love has no rules! This is MY life and HERS, not one to be put into the hands of uncle sam. Who knows maybe will try the DCF.

I’m grateful I came across this site. I came across this website googling info on how to marry in a different country and bring someone into to the U.S.

My name is Derek and I fell in love with someone in Nicaragua. It started as a vacation that I was going to end short because I didn't speak Spanish and I was alone and didn't feel like I fit in anywhere. So I called and rebooked my flight 9 days early and planned to spend the rest of my days in some nice hotel next to the airport and wait it out. I was staying at a hostel and my soon to be wife was working there. Now, I fell in love with this girl at first sight, but didn’t come to Nicaragua to hook up or to fall in love so I never said anything to her. (Shy) The night before I was going to leave, she came to me while I was lying on a hammock reading a book and asked me if I would like to take a walk with her she said she was getting off work in ten minutes. I looked around and said “me”? She laughed and said “yes”. We spent the next day together seeing a volcano and that night, sitting outside (I was dropping her off at where she was staying) a man came out of nowhere and told us we where two lost stars in the universe and have found each other. We refer to him as “the man in the street” he is a huge part of our story. But the next day I left for the airport 3 hours away, early in the morning. When I got to the airport something inside of me told me to go back. I told the driver to “take me back”. (I missed my flight) When she saw me she said “you’re crazy”, I told her “you’re right, crazy for you”. We spent the rest of my 9 days together traveling all over, I met her family, learned to wash cloths by hand, cook on an outdoor oven with wood, and draw water from a well. I was in love and she loved me, it was magic. When she took me to the airport I told her I would be back, that I loved her and asked her to marry me. She said “yes” then asked me if this was a dream and if she was going to wake up.. I said “I hope not”. Since I have been back, 2 weeks now, I’ve been going crazy being away. We have already planned the marriage it will be in Nica in early September. I’ve contacted the embassy and found out what I need to do, in order to bring her here to the states. I never knew it was so much, so long and so much money. *UGH* but its okay. This is my journey…..

Welcome to VJ!!! My husband came from nicaragua also. he came here with K1 visa and he is now a legal permanent resident. Welcome! if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask. i'll answer with the knowledge i have...
