Well we sent out the forms for the AOS and the EAD at the same time. All documents included. We received the only NOA about 2 weeks later, very fast, requesting more information which we sent, I suppose about 3 weeks after receiving the request. During the time we were gathering the extra info for them we went and got her biometrics done in New Orleans.....so we're thinking all is good. So, we sent off the info and now, nothing. No information saying they got it, or need more, or are pending anything. Just nothing. And we are going on about 7 months since she has been in the US. We got married and all that in the required amount of time.....but I'm getting a bit worried now, simply because of lack of info. And calling the USCIS is useless because the only two things they are "allowed" to say are, "Can I answer any questions for you?" and "I'm sorry we cannot answer that!". From what I've pieced together they say I will have to go and make an appointment with my local field office, speak with an officer.....all the way in Atlanta, and only to ask what is going on???

Ok sorry for the novel. But any advice from anyone would be great. Should I be worried....should I make the appointment??? Thanks for any info!!!

Hey have patience, I sent my EAD and AOS at the same time end of February and had my biometrics appointment on March 17th I think which I thought was really quick. I only received my EAD card in the mail 2 days ago so in total it took me about 3 months. In total I have been in the US almost 7 months now so hopefully the EAD will arrive any day.

Have you been going onto the USCIS website and checking the status of your application via your receipt number? That will tell you when it was last touched and when it was last worked on. You can also check the status of your AOS too.

I Hope that helps and i wish you the best of luck!

Stuart.

When did you send your AoS packet in?

What did you receive the RFE for? AoS or EAD??

When did you send that info back?

Saying she's been here for 7 months doesn't tell us how long you've been waiting for NOA's for AoS. People send their AoS packets in anywhere from right when they get here to over a year later. It's hard to advise from your post whether you should be worried & schedule and infopass appointment or not since we don't know how long you've been waiting.

I'm assuming you received something from them since she had biometrics done. You must have gotten the letter from them telling you to do that because you need to take it with you.

3/5/11 sent LOC paperwork

3/9/11 date of NOA

?/?/?? biometrics appointment

All dates are not remembered exactly but the months are close.....I'd say we sent the whole package, AOS and EAD Forms, around the end of Jan and received a receipt no more than 2 weeks later....good news. Then we got the RFE another 2 or so weeks after that. The RFE's were not very specific at all about the info they wanted or from whom, sponsor, co-sponsor, or my fiance', but it was about money so we figured it was about the American sde. So basically we made up two new packets of info, all info pertaining to money, a whole new affidavit of support, birth certificates, and the like and labeled them accordingly and sent them to the address that the RFE instructed. And now, nothing.....zip, zilch. Also, as a side note, we did get our notification to get her Biometrics done, which we did with no problem, BEFORE we received the RFE's. So on one hand it seems things are moving along and on the other it's a a dead stand still. No more RFE's, no more receipts, appointments, instructions, or info.....only them telling me that I need to go to Atlanta to find out what IS going on. This is my cause of concern.....thanks for any info! Sorry for lack of exact timeline.....but in these times are +-3-4 days.....

It's my understanding that the RFE's are pretty specific in stating what they want. Is it possible that you misunderstood it, and sent the wrong thing, or not enough info, or too much? There might be some confusion on both ends at this point.

Yes, mostly on my part;) Well initially after a few weeks passed with no word, I called them. This is when they "could not disclose any blah blah".......another couple weeks, more stress, so I call again and again no one allowed to blah blah. So, finally just last week I called again to basically ask "what" exactly they are there to do. Well, I got through to someone with some "pull" perhaps or maybe just a competent in general and finally got the info I needed. Still a bit worried but I am relieved that they "did" receive the extra info they asked for. Now since it's still pending is a bit scary but it's all on their timeline now as far as I've heard. Thanks all, also any more info, or someone who has went through this same thing, insight is always welcome.
