My husband's mother is in Venezuela - she doesn't have a job currently and she is not married and is all alone over there. Is there a way to bring her into the U.S. to live with us so we can support her? Please let me know, thank you!

Once your husband becomes an USC - he can petition to bring his Mom.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

How long does it take to become a citizen? Isn't that a really long process? There's no way to do it while he is resident?

Thank you for your response!

3 years after getting the LPR.

No - only spouse, children can be brought over as an LPR.

A permanent resident of the United States can file a petition for the following relatives:

• Husband or wife; and

• Unmarried child(ren), regardless of age.

Note: Only U.S. citizens may petition for married children.

When you submit your petition, you are required to provide

evidence to prove your relationship to the person for whom you are

filing.

US Citizens CANNOT file an I-130 for IN-LAWS. In this case LPR must first become a US citizen, and only then can the file the I-130 for parent.

Monimum time to file for citizenship is 3 years after getting green-card, this requires being continuously married and living with same US citizen. IF not, than it is 5 years after becoming an LPR.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
