I would imagine the "you break it, you bought it" principle applies here.

The US took these people into custody and held them indefinitely via legally dubious means. If there is no evidence available to file specific criminal charges against them, then our justice system requires that they be released and repatriated to their home countries, or; if the repatriation will result in torture or execution by the authorities in that country then they should be granted asylum here or in a country that's willing to accept them.

The US should take responsibility for the things it does and not try to palm it off on other countries.

It seems a certain group of people look at in the way described above.

I say release all of them on US soil. I'm not worried. I will be safe. Dont know about everyone else but who cares.

Sometimes things have to be done to show people how dangerous extremist's can be. When a bomb goes off in their home city then they wake up and want protection instead of good feelings.

FBI chief undermines Obama on Guantanamo closure

FBI chief Robert Mueller Wednesday undermined President Barack Obama's plan to close the Guantanamo Bay prison by warning that detainees could fuel terrorism if transferred to US soil.

"The concerns we have about individuals who may support terrorism being in the United States run from concerns about providing financing to terrorists, radicalizing others," Mueller told a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee.

The threat of Guantanamo detainees "radicalizing" others would apply even if they were held in maximum-security prisons on the US mainland, the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation indicated.

Obama wants to shutter the prison camp located at a US naval base on Cuba by early 2010. But his Democratic Senate allies Tuesday moved to deny the president 80 million dollars in funding for the proposal.

Obama is due to defend his approach in a speech Thursday.

But the Democrats joined Republicans who have warned for weeks that Obama lacks a plan for dealing with the facility's 240 detainees from 30 countries, and argued against imprisoning, trying or freeing any of them on US soil.

This is just another example of why the left cannot be trusted with anything close to national Security.

We heard for two years ... the Left crying "Shut Down Gitmo", Hell even McCain was on board (McCain agreeing with the left... nothing new there).

Now we have the ring leader of SHUT DOWN GITMO simply asking for (excessive amounts) of money to do what the Left has said they want done.... and in lock-step they all Vote against the Ring Leader.

Why?

Things change, it's no longer an issue to beat-up "W" with and .... (this is the biggie) If we should have another 9-11...or perhaps another similar big event (here or there), do you think the left want to be found guilty of importing Terrorist?

Besides all that, The Left always has great ideas for everyone else... just not in -their back yard-.

Sure it was fun-and-Games during the election pretending (some even believing) that Obama was ready for this Role.... But now as Iran clearly is not interested in the "talk" Obama submissively offered, and as they are launching test missiles, Someone else is going to do what Obama won't , I suspect he told him face2face this week.

Okay, I am off to dinner.

I still think if they end up in a California prison, the situation will take care of itself.
