Congratulations, Princess!  I was thinking of you this morning and hoping you were having an easy time. I knew it! Agree with the others that it will be harder on the men, so I'm working hard to make sure my husband's paperwork and evidence of our bona fides is iron clad. Plus I'll be there and will have alerted my congressman that I may need to contact him if we have any problems.

I'm still confused about the translations issue. I emailed the Consulate last week about the U.S. vs. Moroccan English translations - they didn't answer my question, just said they have to be sworn translations, which I already knew. I emailed them again today to try to get a similar response to the one they sent to Rosie, i.e. "If the translations are required for immigrant visa purposes, they need to be from a sworn translator, regardless of the origin." I want that in writing to me! I paid over $200 to get these translations done here in the U.S. that are 100% guaranteed to be acceptable to the State Dept. I cannot for the life of me understand why only Moroccan English translations would be acceptable, but of course I will do it if necessary - we are at their mercy.

Also, my husband's court record and birth certificate don't have an expiry date, only the police record does. So I wonder why those girls' records were out of date.

Again, congrats, and all the best with your travel plans.

thanks so much vivian, good luck for your husband's interview... be sure that he has all the evidences with him

it's really good that you will be there for his interview ,it will be a great support for him, i wished my husband was here for my interview

as for translations, one of the girls who was requested to bring new documents because the ones they had were already expired, was told that the translations her husband made in usa are not acceptable because they only accept translation from moroccan sworn translators

and for the documents if they are made more than 3 months ago that means they are expired , so better prepare new ones, and if they ask to make moroccan translations, it easy to do it, there are translators around the consulate, you can do the translations in less than 30mn and the cost of translations for the 3 papers is 300dhs

good luck and welcome to Morocco

and if you need any help, just ask me, i live in Casablanca

Thanks for the response, Princess. I'll get the Moroccan translations then, regardless of how the Consulate responds. Good to know it only takes 30 minutes - the ones we got done in Rabat for our marriage couldn't be done same-day, but they were from English to Arabic. I believe there's a translator across the street from the Consulate so we'll go early the day before my husband's interview.

And only the fiche anthropometrique has the 3-month validity stamped on it, but my husband says he can easily get another casier judiciaire, so we'll get that, and another birth certificate, though it seems silly that a birth certificate would have an expiry date!

Congrats again. You must be so happy.

hi vivian , better safe than sorry, the translations of those documents are easy and doesn't take time because they only add personal information, they have already those documents translated

I know it seems silly that a birth certificate has an expiry date, my husband said the same thing when i told him that his birth certificate is not valid, so he had to go to his country of birth to get one and come back to morocco so we can get married

yes i'm happy  and i can't wait to be with my husband again

i'm going to the consulate later to pickup my passport with the visa :dancing:
