Any pakistani who knows someone who studied from University of Engineering & Technology Lahore or Taxila.

I need information regarding transfer of credits.

would it be better to get degree from pakistan (since i have only 2 and a half semesters left before i get my degree)

or move to the usa and complete rest of the education there(not all my credit hours will transfer and i might have to take TOEFL or some other tests and i might have to study longer than i have to in study pakistan to meet the degree requirements).

i have intentions to study further.MSc and then phd perhaps.

what would an engineer who got his/her degree in bsc from UET lahore or taxila and then moved to usa to get his/her msc degree?

what would a guy who studied in UET and then completed his/her degree over there in usa.(did it took longer to get the degree in usa?)

i need suggestions.

thanks

It would be better and cheaper if u complete ur studies in Pakistan,If u r coming here on GC and havnt established ur residence yet in USA for@ least 1 yr ,schools will charge u international student fee.U can send copies of ur educational documents to some of the evaluation agencies so u will have an idea how much credit u will get.

Salam Saran

i dont have specifics about UET or engineering......

but it wont matter if u complete it here or not as you will have to take credits over here.I had a 4 yr degree from IIUI and i was given credits for 3 yrs of undergraduate degree.I m not sure if money is an issue for you ,but if it is u should take the maximum u can in pakistan .As u have mentioned that ur F43 category so you dont have to take TOEFL as u will have ur green card.U will be required to take GMAT/GRE though before u can get into graduate school. Each college is going to evaluate ur degree so some might give u more credits.I have heard that private college accepts foreign undergraduate degree but i m not sure if it is true as i never looked into it as i cudnt afford them.I m not sure where u r moving here,so google for college in that area and check their programs and curriculum.

Also as i said i m not sure if money is an issue for u but u wont qualify for federal or state financial aid until u have lived here for 1 year, and u will have to pay

fees as a nonresident for a year which is almost twice.

P.S. Have ur university issue u an official certified degree in a sealed envelope and dont open it...Each institute u r going to apply will need it,so its better that u have it on you before u come here.

Also letter of recommendation from professors help and course contents of subjects u studied....they might go over it incase there is confusion about evaluation. Also bring ur prospectus/brochure that has ur degree breakdown.

Best of luck
