Generally on the marriage license - she puts her maiden name. On the AOS application she puts her new name in the name block (as she would like it) and lists her maiden name in 'other names'. This is exactly how my wife did it - our marriage certificate doesn't give any married names - its basically a certified stamped marriage license (saying the marriage was recorded). Good Luck

What if the immigrant is male and he wishes to change his name? My boyfriend has mentioned taking my name instead of me changing it to his and he also expressed an interest in changing his first name so people do not constantly mispronounce his name.
